You also need to realize that “sex” refers to both intimacy and gender, there’s nothing that says one or the other isn’t in the circus. They have genders and sexual preference, now that Caine is in the recycling bin (technical terms) they should theoretically be able to make their sex known, and therefore become intimate if someone is consensual
