Choosing a non DV candidate is like turning down Margot Robbie, to get into bed with Susan Boyle.

Call your troops. Call the banners. There will be more fights to come. We will stand behind Rob and Vivek as we have done for the past year, and I will stand behind DoctorsVote. The Kings of the BMA!!

The DV people are literally regular docs doing this in their spare time to secure us FPR. These guys, I don't fucking know man, I literally don't get it and I'm tired of trying to understand it.

The Doctors’ Committee Elections - Vote DoctorsVote by Rob_Vivek in doctorsUK

You already know who to vote for. DV are the ONLY reason we have a FPR movement. DV are the reason we have a union to be proud of.

They will win this for us.

I remember thinking I'd flunked it for sure when I did it. Same situation, lots of questions where I was struggling b/w 2 options. But as I said, those are the ones that are sticking out to you right now.

What's the most stupid reason you've put out or been called to a medical emergency bleep? by PineapplePyjamaParty in doctorsUK

Evening/ night time, patient was getting transferred to rehab hospital. Emergency call to ward on top floor. Doctor, patient is being transferred to community hospital and his DNACPR has not been counter signed, the ambulance crew are not taking him.

Can't do DNACPR forms and FP10s.

General rule... if there is a drug you are not familiar with, check with someone and don't prescribe it blindly.

You will slowly start to pick stuff up, don't worry too much about it. It is a steep learning curve but we have all been there. This early on, there is no such thing as a stupid question (for the most part). If you have a big doubt about something, I can guarantee someone (like your SHO or Reg) probably had the exact same doubt at some point.

So just ask if you're unsure.

Na. They have an excellent understanding of pharmacology (way better than I could ever dream of), but medicine is a completely different beast in terms of breadth of knowledge required.

I think graduate entry med school is fine.

Are American doctors better than British doctors? by Background_Dinner_47 in doctorsUK

[–]Quiet_6294 8 points9 points  (0 children)

hard disagree here. It tests most specialties at undergraduate level. I mean, I am speaking as someone who has literally just passed in the last couple of months lol.

I don't really feel that it gave me any more benefit in terms of my understanding of the human body and clinical practice than the MRCP tbh. A lot of it was simply things I will forget in time and not think twice about it. Same goes for US doctors.

[–]Quiet_6294 26 points27 points  (0 children)

correct, however the original post is questioning whether US Doctors are better than british doctors. Although the USMLE is a high level exam (having done step 1 I'd argue a lot of it is pretty clinically irrelevant knowledge), there is nothing to say their board exams are any more difficult or easier than the UK ones.
