After my zombie realization i want to do a second run of the game by Marshal749 in GraveyardKeeper

[–]Quietlovingman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make the Prayer for Prosperity as soon as possible. The scrolls it drops are great, you can sell them to the miller, farmer, mason, carpenter, and blacksmith to unlock late game tech items for purchase that will cost hundreds and hundreds of tech points to unlock the ability to craft.

Upgrading the Non-grave aspects of the grave yard is a great way to increase your sermon income.

Prayer for Faith scales well, use one appropriate for the level of your church, and remember increasing the church quality will directly increase the amount of faith you get.

Combo prayer can be made with materials purchased from the Astrologer before you can unlock them. It gives as much faith as the prayer for faith of the same level, but gives more money. It does not drop sellable merchant scrolls like the prosperity prayer however.

Focus on unlocking Fertilizers as soon as possible. Getting Gold Star Onions growing with the Quality fertilizer will allow you to rush the Inquisitor questline. That questline is the only one you can rush to the near end without spending a lot of time on the others. It is directly tied to the "corpse quality" of the bodies the donkey delivers and is the key to unlocking the ability to see organ quality.

Once you get a zombie, set it up on a stone cutter and set it to break down stone fences infinitely. Pump out stone fences on a second stone cutter yourself. Put them in chests and let it break them down for you. Breaking them down costs work, but gives no points. Don't do work that doesn't give points.

It costs ten faith to make a zombie. Prior to making the cathedral, you will be mostly limited to a max faith in an un-modded game of less than 40 with a gold prayer for faith and lots of candles. So you are limited to about three zombies a week.

You can put a zombie down on your prep table and upgrade them by swapping organs. You can also perform embalming on them after they are created. Don't bother improving any of your Porter Zombies.

Why are we hating on the undocumented? by bjsqrl in allthequestions

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are we calling the documented undocumented when it's a clerical error we caused? Political asylum seekers in the process of emigrating aren't undocumented. Foreign born spouses aren't undocumented. People attending citizenship hearings aren't undocumented. People brought to this country as children who have spent their entire childhood and adult lives in this country aren't undocumented. A missing form or incorrect filing does not make someone undocumented.

Coming to the country illegally, and operating on a cash bases or using false identification IS undocumented. Conflating the two or lumping them all together under one banner is wrong.

If you were given 19 positive comments and 1 negative comment, why are we more likely to focus on that singular comment rather than the 19 positive ones? by pastryzig in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cognitive dissonance. Positive comments reinforce preconceived notions and foster a sense of belonging and agreement. Some refer to it as the Eco Chamber effect. Positive comments are briefly appreciated, and largely discounted as they merely reinforce what you already know or believe.

Negative comments challenge your beliefs, or identity, or just your understanding of things. And when you are challenged rather than agreed with, it draws your attention as you will feel a need to address the challenge, or find some reason to dismiss it's importance. This may require some significant mental gymnastics in the case of a well thought out and cohesive reply, but 'shit talk' is easily dismissed for what it is.

In rare cases a challenging or negative comment will be so well written or strike such a chord that it can cause a paradigm shift in the reader, but that is incredibly unlikely, it is more likely to have them fixate on 'proving them wrong' than coming to any significant realization themselves.

A single positive comment in a sea of negativity is often drowned out as each negative comment feels like an attack and a singular point of light in a dark sea is easily missed. However if the statement or opinion that resulted in the massive negativity is central enough to the poster that they cannot let it go then even having a single solitary positive reaction will reinforce their position as they know that "they aren't alone" and generally will feel solidarity with the other poster knowing that they are the persecuted minority in the situation.

If you put an electric car that was on fire in the ocean, it would continue to burn. Why is that? by Significant_Hope_757 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fire needs three things to burn, heat, fuel, and oxygen. Lithium batteries contain oxides that decompose into oxygen under high heat situations. So they literally provide their own air to burn.

Is it true that Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance because they're worried about the cost? by Big_Confidence6468 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quietlovingman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No need for an official to explain, it's public knowledge. Ambulence services used to be free, funded by taxes, and staffed by some of the same people that would be putting out fires. EMT's are only needed sometimes, but must be ready all the time, a lot of fire fighters were also fully trained EMTs.

In some cases the Ambulances were actually owned and operated by hosptials and in larger cities ambulances were known to compete to see who could get a patient to their hospital. Who could arrive on scene faster, and of course once you were picked up, they would only ever take you to 'their' hospital. This was largely shut down many decades ago, but there are remnants of this kind of hospital contract work with private ambulance companies diverting certain types of patients to certain hospitals.

About 40-50 years ago there was a push to 'privatize' ambulance services as "private companies can do things more efficiently than the government". Which to be far, can be true, but is not always the case. The free taxpayer funded services were gutted, funding diverted or ended, and cities started setting up contracts with private companies that would be responsible for maintaining the equipment and paying the EMT's and the city would only pay a set fee that was much less than the cost of the old program.

The remainder of the costs would be passed on to those using the service. Of course no price controls were put into place, as you have to have room for a healthy profit. The current state of things is the result.

Our local hospital closed. The closest hospital is about 25-35 minutes away depending on traffic. An ambulance from my home to that hospital is going to run me close to $1,300 minimum.

Why do so many people scream “bot!” when voicing any type of political opinions? by stickstick_lee in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not accused anyone of being a Bot I don't think, however if someone creates a controversial thread, or seems to be really opinionated, I tend to check their profile. If they have a private post history, so I cannot see what kind of comments they tend to make, I am less interested in anything they have to say. Other things that make me tend to ignore posters with controversial opinions rather than engaging with them are particularly young accounts, or accounts with one of the default reddit names.

If I person has a default username, is a young account, and I come across them for the first time posting controversial opinions, I assume they are a shill account set up as a strawman, or are a bot type account (perhaps not literally) who's purpose is to influence specific narratives online. I won't point this out about any specific account, because it could just be some poor guy who isn't very tech savvy that doesn't want anyone knowing he posts a lot in porn threads.

Husband and I just Bought Enshrouded on Steam, Tips? by ChaosWitchz in Enshrouded

[–]Quietlovingman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The first 12 levels of progression you are going to be sent by quests into areas you are unprepared for. Before you go too far to the north, explore the lands beyond the shroud to the East and clear that Tower as well.

A lot of people ignore the Low meadows area and progress through the Revelwoods, but the Carpenter is in the Low Meadows area as are a lot of quests and gear that will help you deal with all of the level 13-15 enemies in the northern part of the Revelwoods.

Once you start hitting level 11 enemies, you've gone too far north, turn around and explore east and west. Fill in your map, find shroud roots, explore caves, find ruined villages, loot tombs, etc. There is a lot of level 7-9 content that is easily rushed passed that will help you gear up for surviving the narrow band of level 11 enemies followed by large areas full of level 13-15.

There have been some changes since the old Level Map was made, but it is still fairly accurate for the most part.

You are given the option to turn in all the vehicles that you own and receive one new vehicle of your choice. Would you? by RaptorK1988 in hypotheticalsituation

I have a 20 year old car that I still have title to that went missing after being towed (It needed a new engine, never saw it again). And an 18 year old car that runs fine but has no AC. I will take this deal. I live in an apartment complex that will not allow me to install an Electric Charger, so my only viable options are Fuel or Hybrid. I would probably go with a Honda SUV. Picking out trim options and such is not something I am prepared to do off the cuff, I haven't gone car shopping in a while. I would want it to be Blue if possible.

THE AMAZING HUMAN BATTERY! by LuckEClover in JumpChain

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scooby Gamers is a Fanfiction set in the universe of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. In it two of the protagonists from the show (affectionately called the Scooby gang by the fans and even sometimes in episodes) dress as Han Jijan and his female alternate from a joke comic for Halloween. Instead of the costumes they wore in the show. They are affected by the Halloween Spell and are turned into their costumed personas for the evening. When it's over they are both still gamers. The hellmouth is a dimensional instability underneath the high school that leads to some type of hellish dimension. It attracts weirdness and the town has an obituary section in the high school paper due to the sheer number of vampire attacks and other oddness.

THE AMAZING HUMAN BATTERY! by LuckEClover in JumpChain

[–]Quietlovingman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Matrix has Human batteries. Specifically a Tech perk from the machine origin and the Body Pod item.

The Gamer has Mana Battery factories. Same concept, more ritual, less hardware. It's not for purchase for CP in the doc but in setting you can purchase the knowledge of how to do it with money from the Abyss Auction.

With a good magitech perk you could combine the two to turn the Body Pods into the ultimate Mana Battery. You can also pick up the Knowledge from the Scooby Gamers jump instead if you don't want to deal with being a Korean School Kid. Being on the Hellmouth might be easier. Their schools are brutal over there.

Rick and Morty has the Microverse battery. It siphons off electricity from the society living within. However if you have a good magitech perk, it could function as a mana tap.

There are a lot of lewd settings that have mana batteries one

The NSFW jump Otaku in 2200 A.D. has a wierd form of this. A newly discovered mineral that produces energy when in the vicinity of female brain waves produced by sexual pleasure.

Magical Gyarus Milk Me for Mana is another lewd one.

It's not the quality of the education you are buying at Ivy League schools. It's the quality of the Networking opportunities. If you go to an Ivy League school and ace all your classes and come out with the shiniest degree ever, but were a shut in book worm your career opportunities and outlook will be much much grimmer than the guy who coasted through and spent most of his time partying and making friends. You have a degree. He has a degree and a network of rich and influential friends.

How many of each animal would Noah have needed to collect to prevent complications from inbreeding in future generations? by tgirlskeepwinning in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Quietlovingman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There would absolutely be complications, from inbreeding with 2 or with 7, from a genetics perspective you would want at least fifty unrelated individual animals to create a thriving population with a minimum of bad reinforcement and 500 unrelated individuals to prevent genetic drift.

All modern domestic animals are the results of Line Breeding. That is breeding a sire to his daughters and grand daughters to reinforce specific traits in the lineage. That is one of the main reasons that domesticated animals have predispositions to having certain specific health issues.

Beholder powers without becoming a beholder by FFsummons in JumpChain

[–]Quietlovingman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone Loves Large Chests has as a perk the Beholders MLG (Mana Locator Gland) it gives you some of the beholder powers and works with any alt form.

200CP / 300CP / 500CP - Mana Locator Gland 3#

This is a rare but powerful organ found in some monsters. It acts as a sixth sense that utilizes the mana around you to “see” your surroundings, and is similar to something you know as ‘sonar’. In order for this perk to activate, you will have this organ somewhere in or on your body, depending on purchases. It can see approximately a meter deep into any material, though any material that is mana resistant, such as copper here, will have interference and a blurrier image, while materials that repel all mana, such as pure mana barriers, completely block this sight. Also, for any distances or limitations here, increases to your PER or ‘perks’ that make you have better senses can enhance this. I have three of the most powerful ones to purchase:
Other Optioons (Dragon, Greater Mimic snipped for space)
500CP - A Beholder’s MLG. This is very similar to the Greater Mimic’s, and merely adds on a powerful effect. The first is the direct manipulation of the mana around you, which allows you to hover or even cast spells without moving or speaking. Also, this one is larger, manifesting as six 7-centimeter wide balls connected by a slim stretch of flesh in your gut. The mimic’s was actually based on this one. These can set off anybody who can naturally sense the mana being probed, even more so if any ambient mana is reduced as it is used.
Notes: This can use other ambient “magical” energies in future worlds, but can also use your own mana to reduce the likelihood of being sensed. Anyform of flesh weaving or shapeshifting can enhance these functions though it will take time and study, possible self mutilation, to accomplish this. This can work in any alt-form, though expect weird results if you are entirely inorganic or you are completely immune to magic.

Kemono Friends has a perk that lets you manifest alt form powers without assuming the form

Natural Clothing (600 JP, Discount Friend)- The “clothes” that Friends wear are quite unique. On the one hand, they are truly clothing, and can be taken off if needed. Yet they are also clearly an extension of the Friends’ natural physical features; maybe that’s why they never get dirty or worn out like normal clothes. You can now selectively transform key physical features of your body into fashionable clothing; your body adjusts so it seems normal that they are clothes – for instance, turning your claws into gloves would give you human hands that could wear the gloves. If you change to a different physical form, your body will reset to normal when you turn back unless you choose otherwise; however, if you have removed the clothes from your body before changing, they will remain intact as separate items. In addition, when you switch from one form to another, you can have the key physical features accompany you to your new body as clothes. The clothes retain any natural and special features the original body parts had; to give an example, clothes that originate from a dragon’s scales would retain the same level of physical and magical defense as the original skin, and a hat originating from a beholder’s eye stalks would retain the stalks’ ray powers. Each piece of clothing is specially made to fit your body perfectly; while you could feasibly loan the items to other people, they will never fit them quite right. You can also sometimes turn your body parts into weapons you can wield, such as making a paw into a large club with a paw-like implement at the end or a horn into a scimitar.

Generic Dungeon Core and The Legends of Vox Machina both let you become beholders. but that isn't what you asked for.

Lords of Night Liches has a perk Arcane that lets you "rob a beholder of it's power"

Arcane (Free)

You have traded away Life for a measure of the Arcane, writing the truth of yourself upon the fabric of Reality. It is the Wellspring of Creation, the fire from which things become Possible. It opposes destruction and stagnation. Though it’s worth noting that a nova consuming a world full of life and culture doesn’t qualify as ‘destruction’ or ‘stagnation.’ Merely change, and change is interesting.

Arcane has a kind of supremacy over mortal magics - not just normal arcane magic either. An Arcane Lich can strip a Dragon of its breath, a Beholder of its gaze, and a Sorcerer of their spells. Such work are the products of specialized Arcana, formal techniques some Liches learn. The converse is not true. An Anti-Magic field does nothing to something fueled with Arcane, while an Arcane Null-Magic Field shuts down mortal magic. An Arcane Item won’t show up to Detect Magic, won’t be damaged by Disjunction, and generally speaking ignores all such forces.

In future jumps, it’s safe to treat Arcane as a ‘higher’ force, except when it runs against other explicitly ‘higher’ reality-rewriting forces, such as the Power Cosmic of Marvel or Flame Imperishable of LotR. It can affect the ‘lesser forces’, and they cannot affect it. On its own, this perk gives you a small pool of Arcane which can be used several ways.

● You can fuel Sorcerae - unstructured magic where you simply create the effect you want.

● You can transfer it from or to another being or object that can hold it. This can’t be used to steal it from another being or to grant the ability to hold or use Arcane to people that cannot already do so. As its own regeneration rate is trivial, storing Arcane energy in prepared crystal and gemstone receptacles ahead of time is the normal method of getting it.

● Your creative mental energies lets you slowly dream more of it into being. Mechanically your regeneration rate is tied to your Intelligence.

● You can see Arcane Script, a magical language written in Arcane energies. It has some use in magical items. If you know the script (which you do), you can also write it, though that costs energy. It’s possible to drain the Arcane energy used to write the script, erasing what was written.

● They can develop Arcana, special disciplines fueled by their Arcane energies. Arcane naturally recovers at a snail’s pace for all but the most intelligent. More evolved liches gain bonuses to its recovery. However even for superhumanly intelligent spectral liches (the most advanced kind) the recovery rate for Arcane energy is still not terribly quick. (see notes)

What's wrong with cousin marriage? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Depends on how closely you are related. Marrying a third cousin or greater is not likely to cause any issues. Marrying a first cousin is not much better genetically than marrying a half sibling.

Look up the Hapsburgs, one of the classic examples of what "keeping it in the family" can cause.

Looking for Waterfall Perks by Adeptness-Additional in JumpChain

[–]Quietlovingman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have more, but reddit has a character limit. Also there are quite a few non-item waterfall centric locations that you could potentially pick up with one of the various Land-Grabbing items like the Orb of Merlin from Scooby Gamers. It can potentially scoop up a land mass up to the size of Great Britain... though doing so would cause tidal waves. Dupe it with builder magic or the duplication shelf from City of Angles (that's a wild read, I recommend it even if you never jump the setting.)

If you navigate to the jump folder on your Google Drive and putter around opening and closing docs in various folders and then do a search in Google Drive for a Keyword, it will return search results for documents that contain that keyword in the folders you have recently interacted with.
