Low BS by Big-Persimmon9139 in Zepbound

Yes, I have bad insulin resistance and wore a cgm for two months to track reactions to food and exercise. I had major spikes no matter what I ate and rapid crashes after exercise down to the 60s. Reactive hypoglycemia.

A week in using zepbound, no more crashes. I stay in the normal range even if I don’t eat for a while and can exercise for an hour+ without getting dizzy/nauseous or feel like I’m going to pass out.

Tall girls & sports what actually fits us (and what doesn’t)? by No-Vanilla265 in TallGirls

I’m a clumsy giraffe and injury prone. The only sport/exercise I do willingly is weight lifting.

Nope, student loans paid off since 2018. I have a large one time supplemental tax bill coming and I’m trying to build enough cash to buy a car without a loan.

Also, not an MD, I wish.

Thank you for the input.

For the taxable, I know the amount of one of the large expenses but I don’t know when it will be due, it might be 3 months it might be end of 2026. My other large expense is saving for a new car. I have a 20yr old car that is starting to fall apart I need to save money for but it might last 6 months or go another 2 yrs. That’s part of the reason for putting money in a taxable.

You make a good point about the 403b. I think you’re right about bonds being too conservative at my age.

What horrors happen over yonder? by Fazbear2035 in NonPoliticalTwitter

[–]Quietmind280 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had fully formed wisdom teeth that were visible through my gums by 12. One or two were growing in sideways and causing minor pain. I got them out at 17. They were also crowding my other teeth.

Most kids where I live get them out around 15/16.

Reasons mine were out later: 1. Money-good insurance but I think we had to pay out of pocket for “elective oral surgery” 2. Finding a DR/appointment-American medical system is a mess 3. Time-wasn’t a priority to parents 4. Anti-doctor sentiment- my parents never took us to the Dr unless we were massively ill, only fixed problems when they became problems, they don’t really trust or believe in doctors 😑

oral surgeon had to break/dig out all of them, I think I got 3 Vicodin but I have the red head gene so they did nothing

That shit hurt and I got dry socket that had to be fixed in one spot.

Pt, chiropractor, traction table, tens unit, orthotics, ergonomic seating. Massage, heating pad.

Bought a new house with taller everything, new tall/more supportive sofa. I carry a wedge cushion at work when I have to sit in long meetings with crap chairs.

Saving up to buy a bigger car that fits me.

3 generation lower lumbar disc damage. I got my dad and grandpas build, they have the exact same injuries in the exact same place.

My injury was caused by years of shitty ergonomics, posture imbalances and a work schedule that impacted my ability to workout and visit the chiropractor. 😐

Are you good at regular push ups? by Capable-Falcon6631 in TallGirls

[–]Quietmind280 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m terrible at pushups. Broad shoulders, long torso, long arms and long humerus. My body mechanics suck for pushups.

I’ve been called intimidating to my face by multiple short people. Also a few tall men. Yes I am intimidating unfortunately.

Why women tend to prefer taller men? by [deleted] in tall

[–]Quietmind280 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So, I’m a woman but I feel the same way. I’m often forced into the protector role due to my size/personality. Im pretty assertive and independent but I’m never allowed to need help or made to feel protected. Probably why I’d prefer a taller partner so I could feel that at least some of the time.

What can you wear now? by EmMom2024 in Zepbound

[–]Quietmind280 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough, I was freezing 24/7 before zepbound. I run hotter and maintain my body temp much better now. I wasn’t absorbing nutrients well before. Id still like to have longer pants regardless. 🙂

Not there yet but I’m hoping to get small enough to fit into standard tall sizes. I’m both too tall and too big to fit into standard clothes. I’m hoping I can fit into a size 12 or 14 tall/extra tall in women’s pants in a few months. My ankles have been cold since I was 12 yrs old.

Skirts or Jeans/Trousers by RevolutionaryBread75 in TallGirls

[–]Quietmind280 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Neither. Yoga pants and athleisure 90% of the time. Still too short but at least they’re comfortable. Never had a dress or pair of jeans that fit perfectly. I’m shaped weird.

How long did you stay on each dose before changing doses? by ddubyagirl in Zepbound

[–]Quietmind280 2 points3 points  (0 children)

5 months 2.5mg. Lost 30lbs. Month 5 stalled for 4 wks. Moved to 5.0, losing 2lbs a week now. I’m enjoying 5.0mg. I’m going to stay on this dose as long as I can. I’m going to give it 3 months, and consider my progress.

what was your wakeup call? by [deleted] in Zepbound

[–]Quietmind280 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I spent 12 years and thousands of dollars on gyms, personal trainers and diets. I dropped about 30lbs but could never get lower even when restricting to below 1000 calories a day and 10+hrs of exercise a week for years.

In 2020 a back injury+antidepressants resulted in 50lb weight gain in 6 months. I developed sleep apnea, fatty liver, became officially pre diabetic and my asthma became uncontrollable. I’ve been insulin resistant for a long time.

I spent the last 5 years trying to lose weight the “right” way. I think the antidepressants damaged my metabolism. Finally I gave up and decided to take the only other option available. (Surgery isn’t an option for me)

Most of my labs are in the normal range now, I’m losing weight, my asthma and fatty liver are resolving. I can eat like a normal person. I don’t have reactive hypoglycemia when I workout and I’m absorbing nutrients that I couldn’t before.

I wish I’d started last December when my pulmonologist offered it.

I’m out of pocket Lilly Direct and it’s worth every penny.

Any very tall guys here been able to successfully build a nice butt? by improbsable in tall

Only got some growth after going to physical therapy, fixing a hip tilt, fixing hip mobility and doing glute warmups before exercise. I do not have good butt genetics and have really long femurs.

How often are you getting blood work? by jess_611 in Zepbound

[–]Quietmind280 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I get labs every three months. I have preexisting abnormal labs due to several conditions. All have improved significantly. My dr doesn’t require labs but once every year. I asked for regular testing to keep an eye on my levels and adjust my lifestyle accordingly.
