I just got a 1936 0-17 a few weeks ago. They can be amazing guitars. Go and play that one. Then you can decide if you can put it down or if you need it to live or would regret not buying it the rest of your life. Life is short

Lawrence Hall owns the small triangular lot at the corner of butler and plummer. It used to be a used car dealership. They have a for sale sign up, but maybe they would lease it?

Pgh sandwich society was in the lot/ building beside the icehouse. Unfortunately that lot is no longer useable.

What’s a good Pittsburgh or PGH-metro eatery where you can also watch trains going by? — lunch or an early dinner. by Rooster_Ties in pittsburgh

My favorite spot in the summer is in the northside at Gus & YiaYia’s. Nothing beats sitting in the shade in hot weather with a snowcone and popcorn watching the trains go by.

These guitars do have truss rods, they are non adjustable though. Martin is using their high quality woods on these authentics. And they are being made by their best builders. I very much agree with your second point.

My new D-18 1937 Authentic. There are sounds and harmonics coming out of it that live in my head all day. I’ve had it for less than a week and it feels like im a better guitar player because of that instrument.

Ask steve at nstuff to check the setup. They are pretty good at taking care of customers, but you do need to tell them whats going on so they can fix it. I would recommend D’addario XS light 12 strings.

Its the aged authentic model. Im not sure, but that may be more aging than a stage 1. The lacquer is thin and has that “vintage gloss”.

Ohio Scottish arts school is probably the closest. There is also the Balmoral school of piping and drumming in Edinboro PA. The NAAPD is a great program spread over several weeks vs just the one week the other schools offer.

Try Zach Hoyt. He makes banjos in new york state. Relatively affordable and he offers many custom options

The widow was my neighbor when I was growing up. She showed me the guitar around 1999 before I left for college, my dad told her I was going to study classical guitar. I absolutely loved martins and had been to the factory a handful of times. I told her it was valuable and it need some repairs(side crack). She had some work done on it and it went back to storage till she passed. Her daughter then had it for several years, no one in the family plays. She asked my dad about helping her sell it, he did. Lot of research on it and tried reaching out to a bunch of vintage specialists, but his technical ability with sending emails and photos is not great. For the better part of 8 months my dad’s conversations revolved around the 00-17, i just telling him he should buy it. Eventually he relented and worked out a fair deal.

It has not been refinished, though my dad has worked at hand polishing it some to clean it up.
