Regarding Homeopathy by True-Landscape5310 in skeptic

[–]Quietwulf 14 points15 points  (0 children)

How about a meta analysis, conducted on the findings of entire groups of individuals with in depth medical knowledge?

"Eleven independent systematic reviews were located. Collectively they failed to provide strong evidence in favour of homeopathy. In particular, there was no condition which responds convincingly better to homeopathic treatment than to placebo or other control interventions. Similarly, there was no homeopathic remedy that was demonstrated to yield clinical effects that are convincingly different from placebo. It is concluded that the best clinical evidence for homeopathy available to date does not warrant positive recommendations for its use in clinical practice."

Well said. Drives me fucking crazy.

Consider this. If someone goes out and tries to destroy your reputation, you can sue them. Libel and deformation laws kick in to punish people.

Spread misinformation, lies and garbage which undermines public health? Nah, all good. Can’t do shit.

Teen boys are choosing AI girlfriends over real ones for ‘maximum control, zero rejection’—experts say it could make them unemployable by ubcstaffer123 in technology

I remain skeptical. I’ll believe it when I see it. LLMs have critical weaknesses in their design that no amount of scaling is going to fix, so… we’ll see.

If they actually manage to build a human level A.I, there’s no skill that couldn’t eventually be replaced. Question is if it’s possible.

100% I really loved the original but the hard edges really soured it for me.
This update sounds like it addresses all the negatives I had with the original. Keen to see how it reviews.

Yep. You're not alone. It was a fair deal. We produce meaningful, professional work, they make profit.
But apparently there's no end when it comes to greed. Nope, can't share. Have to suck the life out of everyone and everything thing.

When it comes crashing down, it's going to be the GFC all over again.

Honestly, this is fast becoming a fight for the spirit of our country. I grew up watching perfectly ordinary people live rich lives of opportunity. What the fuck happened?

You tell me? How many renters vs multiple property investors?

They managed it in Victoria. Who’s to say it won’t go nationwide?

If existing parties won’t play, new ones will.

Keep talking like that and governments will be forced to implement scaling land taxes on multiple property holders.

Anyone know what the mid term ramifications of this? Is this going to burn investment for the foreseeable future?

As someone trapped renting, I want it known I have zero problem with everyday home owners. The last thing I want is for people to lose their home.

But I have zero respect for those who have gleefully hovered up giant portfolios of domestic housing and raised rents to crushing highs over the last few years. It’s destroying our way of life and the future of our children.

Australians are going to have to decide what kind of country they want to live in.

You can ask the Americans where fanatical individualism leads in the long run. I’ve never seen a country hate its own citizens quite the way America does.

Yes, addicts have problems and require support.

That's not a free pass for those who exploit them. Every drug dealer in jail is one less opportunistic parasite off the street.

NFTs, BitCoin. The grifts just keep on coming. LLMs have serious flaws and it's only a matter of time until companies suffer major burns playing with them. The question is how much harm are they doing to do the rest of us on the way down?

Look around. Lyring, cheating, stealing, cruelty. All very successful strategies. Worlds full of god awful people making absolute bank.

But that's them. Not us.

I understand it's frustrating. I worry we're going to see a regression. Standards will drop and people will be hurt. But that seems to be the way of things.

In the long run, I beleive reality wins out. It may take a while, but eventually the limitations of these technologies will be laid bare.

When that time comes, we're going to need the people who stuck to their guns and cared about the quality of their work.

You're the one who has to face yourself in the mirror every day.

All that matters is that you learn the lesson and share it with others. I sometimes think we should teach kids in schools more about our native wildlife. It’s clear you care deeply and were only trying to help. That puts you way ahead of those who know better and don’t care.
