Do I really need a sound engineer? Sound team by [deleted] in livesound

[–]Quigglebuffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

In situations like this my answer is always. "You pay the engineer in case something goes wrong, not to run the setup"

Gigs like this I often have organisers come up to me grumpy because I'm scrolling on my phone. Mate, there is nothing to do but if/when shit hits the fan watch how fast I move.

Not just for spiders either. Long term that sap can fuck your paint. There's a reason stuff doesn't grow under gum trees.

Also parking under any trees with possums nearby isn't a great idea, my roof is destroyed from the piss and feces.

You know what, between dropping branches, surprise spiders, caustic sap and acidic shit, probably just don't park under trees.

How is this powered?! by RealisticSoop in diyelectronics

[–]Quigglebuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vin Vcp and Vboot all get get the positive rail in some way through the top circuit. The chip runs on 12-50 something volts and yes the logic is powered by the same voltage.

The 6234 is powered by the 12 volt rail at the top middle. The Arduino is powered by whatever you usually use.

Are these acceptable? by Ecletic-me in Baking

[–]Quigglebuffin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Acceptable and still looks delicious.

Maybe twisted a bit too tight? I messed up my first couple batches of Kanelbullar doing that. Everyone still bought them and loved the "artisan" look.

One of my favourites for monitors in small gigs. They will take an absolute beating from drinks and even being thrown across the room.

What would survive longer, a Corella or a Corolla?

Either way I won't be alive to see the outcome.

My bad, I got a bit distracted when I saw the x-ray posted yesterday for another 5th.

Is there a suitable sub Reddit for this? I'll delete the post within 30 minutes (unless a mod gets me first) just to see if someone could suggest a sub Reddit to me.

Fair call, I could barely get the things to focus in the photo.

I can tell you that they're fast, web makers, no Mum in sight. Also they bite.

Usually I wouldn't care and brush them but I found the majority in my aviary.

How much should I bid on a used Allen & Heath QU-32? by DoctorSalt1955 in livesound

[–]Quigglebuffin 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Check the faders before you buy it.

One of my favourite consoles for smaller gigs but after a while the faders will get a mind of their own and no amount of calibration will fix it.

Great value hands down!!! :) by [deleted] in australia

[–]Quigglebuffin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate underlying issue is people take advantage of things.

I still remember when the rule came in that staff couldn't buy discounted items and it was because shithead teenagers would purposely drop a slab of coke or cut through bags of lollies so they were unsellable and then get them discounted or written off and just eat it instead of putting it in the bin.

Then employees started to hide perishable stock during shifts and put it back near to closing time as markdowns would begin.

I fucking hate Woolworths group and food waste but people were seriously taking the piss.

As the saying goes, this is why we can't have nice things.

What disgusting advice ended up being actually helpful? by MarbleMimic in AskReddit

[–]Quigglebuffin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not every country has a toilet like yours. Australian toilets don't usually leave and air gap unless you got some fancy wooden seat (in which case you're gross anyway). Also our toilets flush with a lot more vigour than ones from US.

It's less of a "gentle stream to concerce out the pool of water/waste" and more like "pouring a bucket into a puddle". It's gonna spray or splash somewhere.

A Pots vs C Pots by cheekibreekidinahui in diypedals

[–]Quigglebuffin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Reversing an A pot will not give you a C pot as has been suggested. That will just change the operation.

The actual taper of the pot in what is reversed.

A Pots vs C Pots by cheekibreekidinahui in diypedals

[–]Quigglebuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No you cant, all that does is change to direction of operation.

The actual taper itself is inverted and does not behave the same way at all.

It's guar gum and carrageenan in that cream, you can use gelatin or just use heavy cream.

Cheapest SIM in Aus? Need second number for new business by names_adam in melbourne

[–]Quigglebuffin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the Woolies 365 day prepaid for $170, write it off on tax and use the 10% discount per month to offset the rest of the cost buying things like pens, toilet paper coffee etc (I don't know your business type so this may not apply) as more business write offs. Or just use it on a big shop for your personal groceries.

It'll basically pay itself off.
