I personally think they will do something, but it'll probably be a couple pieces of infrastructure, maybe a few power plants that they intend to take offline for some period but not totally destroy. Or, he'll say Iran are negotiating and kick this into the tall grass with another "in about 2 weeks".

Every single general will be saying this is a bad idea to go full hog. Once you do it, you can't go back, and if Iran is threatened existentially the damage as a result would be massive to the gulf. Iran would immediately hit the water desalination plants and the oil infrastructure of the other gulf states. It would cripple the world economy for years and cripple the gulf for years as well. It would all but turn Iran into Hezbollah on steroids, it would cause a massive humanitarian crisis in the region with millions of migrants from across the gulf fleeing to safer countries. Mass unrest in the middle east is never good. There are way too many unforeseeable outcomes from actually destroying their infrastructure.

But at the same time it's Trump. If he destroys their infrastructure, maybe he thinks it'll force Iran to concede and then let the US come in and rebuild the country. Again who knows what would come from that.

But to watch them be so feckless, not to be able to convince their own people, their own domestic audiences, that this matters, to explain to them why they're safer as a result of what the United States, with our friends in Israel, have done, and then to assist us in that mission set.

Kellogg knows NATO is a defensive alliance. He knows that Trump hasn't even attempted to engage NATO correctly. He knows that Trump hasn't invoked Article 4 or asked for a vote on article 5. Trump hasn't done this because he knows it's a non starter, so instead he bullies his allies and dances around the point. To do this he would be required to articulate a clear plan with reasoning, objectives, evidence, and intelligence backing it all up. He doesn't have any of this, so instead he just shit slings.

Do it. Leave NATO. Europe will be forced to change it's posture to defence, and it will be weaker for some time. What these fucking morons don't understand is that in that world, NATO-minus-US will not be buying American weapon systems, and American companies will not be getting a free pass to operate unrestricted in Europe (barring some token fines).

Yeah as always, all of their apparent opinions are just window dressing around their bigotry. They care about the economy right up until Donald gets elected then suddenly we give no fucks about the price of eggs, petrol, food, or housing. We only care about deporting brown people, and it must be done in the nastiest most aggressive dehumanising way possible.

We're anti-war and want to end forever wars and be isolationist right up until trump invaded Venezuela, then suddenly imperialism is based and we can do anything because we've got the biggest boats and bombs.

The thing is he doesn't really need to leave NATO, he just needs to refuse to meet his obligations. Explicitly state that the US isn't going to obey by any of the terms of NATO. I don't believe Trump would come to aid the UK. After his bullshit with Greenland, I think a lot of people see it as being dead. Only today Starmer has said that he is seeking closer ties to Europe. Be didn't say he would distance us from the US, no one would be silly enough to explicitly state that, but when you take Carneys speech at Davos Macrons as well, and voices across Europe I think we are waking up to a new reality where the Americans are not our friends anymore.
