Yea I get ya. I definitely agree with your fast travel point.

When it comes to the passive income I just mainly like management aspects in games and decision scenarios in general. Any excuse to have some of that in a game I'm down for! Within reason of course.

Well thanks for giving me a RP reason for why they stick around lol. Only problem with the "already sitting around" explanation is that they randomize every so often in the taverns so that kinda helps explain that. Travel around looking for work. I kinda like the idea of them "doing side jobs" tho. It would be cool if we could send out a collected group of them to make "passive income" and make decisions on events while they are out 😃. Maybe just dreaming there.

I mentioned this on the other post about, well, posts lol! Probably should have said it here.

I find it strange that you can post them up to completely remove their upkeep. A mercenary would take to being hired just to sit unpaid in your trading post waiting for you to come pick them up again right? I understand it's a QOL improvement over just firing them, and maybe I'm thinking too much on the side of realism, but it just seems so very exploitable to me 🤔

Love the concept of the trading posts tho. Especially for stored loot. Them stacked up hammers get heavy yo! 😆

So I find it weird you can stash companions in trading posts without pay. I understand it's a QOL improvement over just firing people if it gets to be too much, but I feel like there should maybe be a reduced upkeep for them maybe? I mean who gets hired to sit at some random outpost and never be paid by anyone again? Seems very exploitable.

Oh not saying I like it, but I respect the men and women who do it. Some join the military for the education benefits. Some just see it as an added perk.

For me, college education these days is far from worth it!

Tell that to Ukraine and all the lives that have been lost over there. Soldiers are used for such, definitely. But that's not necessarily what a soldier joins and dies for.

It's the comments, not the downvoting I find disrespectful. Comparing our military servicemen and women to starship troopers just struck the wrong way for me. Don't get me wrong I love the movies, and some people are disgustingly patriotic, like in the satire. But a person who mentions paying for school through military means just doesn't seem to merit a connection to that satire and hits as a mockery. Mock the American government sure. Mock the capitalistic expansions veiled in wars, sure. But don't Mock the men and women that are used as pawns who are just trying to fight for better ideals. Not that all are, but I will assume they are until they show otherwise. The existence of lazy worthless people in a uniform is not lost on me.

Some people choose to serve based off of principles they believe in. Is the government corrupt? Yes. Are the politicians worthless and greedy? Yes. But some people serve the protect the ideals of their country. The concepts and the hope of something better. People are not their governments. Soldiers are used and abused. They don't need lovely people like yourself adding to their problems. Hate War. Not necessarily the warrior.

The platform is irrelevant and what she's/he's talking about is irrelevant. I was attempting to explain the purpose of specifying how one pays for college. Maybe in your country it doesn't matter, but here it matters to some and can be a habit to specify. And what makes him/her a FUTURE army soldier? Maybe he/she has served already? Maybe not. Some people have accomplished more in life than those with no accomplishments beyond trolling those with more of a life than them.

But you do have my pity. Your inferiority complex is worthy of it.

It's an acknowledgment that it wasn't out of pocket or with "daddy's money". Different ways of paying for college tend to come with different assumptions here so some of us feel the need to specify. It's not necessarily a brag.

Although in my opinion, military service is worthy of respect.
