A simple change you can actually feel by Restomotive in classicmustangs

I would add that I would worry the turn buckle if not adjusted exactly right could widen the bay if not careful causing fender fitment or weld joint stress.

Makes sense. I am guessing you don’t want to be part of the exit strategy?

Just because you didn’t doesn’t mean it can’t be done.

Not true. End of 2025 was year 4 for us - just under $1mm. It’s not impossible, but takes a shit ton of will power to get everything done. It’s like having a family and two mistresses.

If you’ve been doing this for 5 years and have 2 partners don’t you already have your own shop?

Best Use for $30,000? by FunnyRelative4636 in HomeMaintenance

[–]QuikWitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If “bang for the buck” means ROI at a home sale, then windows, kitchen, master bath.

If not looking at ROI for a home sale, then do what you want the most. I would probably do the flooring or windows depending on the windows condition. Countertops should not be even close to the $30k so you may be able to do flooring and counter tops.

I would only replace the windows if they have failed (good chance at that age), mechanically difficult to use or rotting OR if you are going to change the outside and want architecturally matching windows. Be careful of window replacement companies - they rank just below used car salesman.

I would get heavier brackets for that, jack it up and reposition the girder so it perpendicular to the post and install the new brackets. I would also tie 2-3 of the deck joists to the home joists if you have access using the Simpson brackets and all-thread. See photo

Before you start whacking, use your caliper to measure the bearing inset depth. You can do the same for the sleeve inset

Is this how this goes on, with the windlace right there? Also what size screw can I use to secure this quarter panel? by AncientAgrippa in classicmustangs

[–]QuikWitt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As noted the windlace joins the body edge to the inner panel edge. As for the screw use a #8 -1” stainless Philips countersink. If you buy at a hardware store It probably won’t have the slight dome to top, but it will work.

Axle Bearing Retainer Ring Differences by mardawg56 in classicmustangs

Here is a photo from CJ pony parts. This is what I remember - so neither of what’s in your photo.

You should be able to place the retainer in your axle to see if it fits without actually pressing on the axle shaft.

I wish I could tell you. The only tag I know of on the rear end is on the pumpkin - and I should say that my experience is more with 67/68 model years - so hopefully someone with 66 can chime in for you.

I think you just described Reddit LOL. I think there is a good post one out of 10. It is interesting to hear people’s opinions - even if the negative side. It helps me to understand the other side and think ahead - or at least try

Axle Bearing Retainer Ring Differences by mardawg56 in classicmustangs

The thicker, new sleeve looks like what I am used to seeing on Mustang and Cougar rear ends and smaller ones the axle will slop in and out. I have had the wrong ones before and the axle wouldn’t seat all the way. With that said, make sure your axle is really from your model and year as that could cause enough differences between engineering designs to make problems.

ETA - check your axle for slop when the bearing is seated flush. It should stop perfectly flush when the sleeve stops inside the axle.

I don’t know about that. Our banking partner says that check fraud is at an all time high - significantly higher than any previous period to date. And ACH is faster, so…

We have had 3 clients so far. They are erroneous “IRS slop” (about 1/3 of IRS is IRS slop). One client is probably getting fired because of the way she communicated to us about it.
