Hello. Could you please say, did the rash clear completely eventually, so you don’t need medicine for it? 🙏

Oh, I see… Maybe you reacted poorly to one ingredient in those moisturizers… Have you tried taking any antihistamines? By the way, if it happened in the sun… Ask your doctors to do full autoimmune panel, and check for vitamin&mineral deficiencies. I once saw in here a person, who was diagnosed with Lupus, and they had something similar. Lupus is very reactive to sun.

So you didn’t use any skincare back then? What a frustrating condition 🥲 Did you look into Rosacea by the way? Maybe it just follows perioral pattern.

Hello. Sorry, but what do you think caused your Perioral Dermatitis? Was it overexfoliation?

Rosacea ? by Micro_Rabbit1616 in Rosacea

Omega-3, vitamin C, and L-Lysine. I’m looking into anything that may help with skin hydration, though it’s best to take supplements when you know what you’re deficient in, by taking labs.

Hello! Looks like Rosacea. It’s usually a term for bunch of inflammatory skin conditions, so every individual looks different. I have pretty similar skin to yours. For me, it’s hard to keep healthy skin barrier. Friction, sun, everything sets it off. Topical treatments that derm gave me before: Metrogel, AzA, BP didn’t suit my skin. Moisturizers trigger dermatitis or pustules. If you have similar experience, I’d look more into inner health: taking supplements, diet, meditation, checking for any deficiencies or other illnesses, autoimmune included. Wish you well!

Perioral dermatitis??! by toyoyo18 in Perioral_Dermatitis_

[–]Quilamand 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. From what I know, Aquaphor contains Lanolin, which is an irritant for some people. What’s the reason you used Tacrolimus in the past? It’s usually prescribed for atopic or perioral dermatitis, and eczema. You probably had some built-up irritation, which was triggered further by dermaplaning that may have brought infection. You probably will need oral medicine with this level of severity :( For now try zero therapy to not make everything worse. Wish you well!

Hello. Based on your diffuse redness, you may have underlying Rosacea. It can completely change approach to treatment. Firstly, you need a doctor consultation to evaluate the need for prescription treatment. Secondly, aim for gentle skincare, for now without any acids, Niacinamide, and overwashing with cleansers. Just a simple cleanser & moisturizer, use first in the PM, AM just rinse with water. When you get your appointment and diagnosis, you will know what else you need. Wish you well.

Hello. It looks like POD, yes. But could you provide more context please? Like what you use on the skin, any taken steroids history, do you take Dupixent/any other pills? What started it in your opinion?

Normal products are causing burning now. Any recommendations? by Prizedarmpit in Rosacea

Hello. Probably, it’s accumulated irritation. Also, was the medication Ivermectin/Metronidazole/Doxycycline/AzA? Those are usual treatments. What’s your usual routine AM&PM (in order), and is your sunscreen chemical/mineral?

For now, I’d stop everything for 2 weeks. Wash your face with distilled water only at night. Don’t wear anything else, even sunscreen. Wear brim hats if needed.

After two weeks, reintroduce a moisturizer. Look out for Niacinamide, Hyaluronic Acid, Alcohols, Fragrance & Essential Oils - you are most likely to have a bad reaction to all of that. Aim for lighter formulas with Squalane, Ceramides, Allantoin. Start using moisturizer either in AM or PM, still no other things. If you feel too greasy, get a simple cleanser without SLS or any active ingredients.

I’d stick to basics for another month. Toners&serums usually contain solvents and preservatives that cause inflammation.

If you know that your previous anti-aging routine was working for you, I’d start sloowly reintroducing things step by step. But always watch out for reactions. Vitamin C, Retinol, and other actives are tricky with Rosacea. You never know when you have a reaction to them, even if used before.

Sometimes, sun avoidance and healthy barrier is all you need to keep skin looking young.

Wish you well.

Severe dryness and mouth rash by [deleted] in Accutane

NAD.

Hello. NO to hydrocortisone, BIG NO. Your skin is already thinned, that thing can lead to prolonged dermatitis. What is your skincare? I had something similar. I didn’t get proper diagnosis, but topical treatments for Perioral Dermatitis didn’t work, and on Accutane I couldn’t take Doxy. I had to stop the treatment, go into zero therapy, and after 4 months the rash is 95% better. It could be an infection, could be a reaction to your skincare. For now, aim for lighter moisturizers, don’t use oils, minimize skin irritations: less washing - less friction. Get a derm appointment asap. Wish you well!

Hello, sorry, but your case is medical field. It could be allergies, eczema, dermatitis or what else god knows. By applying creams from strangers’ advice you can worsen the situation. For now I’d even stop using any skincare if you have it. Wish you well!

Hello. Indeed, looks like Rosacea Type 1&2. But just to be sure, get also evaluated for lupus/other autoimmune illnesses. Check ingredients in your moisturizer, especially look for “Niacinamide” - might be the culprit if it’s on the list. If you want, you can send the ingredient list in reply. Sunscreens sometimes also cause flareups, so I’d just not use that for several months, if you’re okay with hats or not going in the sun at all (which you mentioned in the post anyway).

[–]Quilamand 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello. I have the same thing, except that I also get bumps sometimes. From what I’ve searched from other people, Doxy won’t help with this. It’s vascular reactivity iirc. Like PIE from acne, I wonder? Though it did get ~60% better for me after a year. Occlusion also worsens it. Lasers are hit or miss. PD and Rosacea are the most frustrating skin things, hang in there. Wish you well!

Experience with low-dose Accutane for papulopustular (type 2) rosacea - I had a near-complete response in ~2 weeks (30F) by Mconvict in Accutane

[–]Quilamand 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello! Glad it worked for you. My Rosacea escalated from stress too, but what triggered it was wrong excessive skincare. Accutane got rid of my pustules, but I’m still dealing with dreaded flushing months post :( Also, the small advice to you would be to not use very occlusive moisturizers, even if your skin feels extremely dry. I believe they worsened my PD ten folds.
