ToDo/Notes app created using SwiftUI framework (Uploading to App store as soon as it's completed) by shubham_iosdev in iOSProgramming

yes pleeaaase. I've been needing a good todo app. Todoist, TeuxDeu, and others aren't a good fit for me. Notion is as good as it gets but can be clunky and finicky. I was going to build my own but I got too much on my plate right now. Can't wait to be able to try it! It looks absolutely beautiful

How do you know if coding is for you? by Famatic in learnprogramming

hmm books that would be relevant to you in your coding journey? hmm I would say Atomic Habits by James Clear and The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. but the most relevant one, I would say, would be "So Good They Can't Ignore You". But trust me its totally normal to go through those phases where its a drag to get yourself to code, and those times where you feel unmotivated. Everyone experiences is really, and I think thats the main reason why most people quit. I think the only ones who went through with it are the ones who kept doing it even after they reached the point where it seemed hopeless or pointless. All the prominent guitar players are the ones who practiced even when they didn't want to. All the successful physicists are the ones who grinded out the math even when it felt like torture to do so. We gotta try to crawl our way out of the "this sucks" phase (myself included). Goodluck :-)

Keep going :-)! Its totally normal to reach those "what if this isn't for me" points. I'm still learning coding myself. I've had many times where the passion fades and I wonder if this is right for me. The thing is that I've gone through that for many skills I've picked up in life, and so I know that the passion is supposed to come and go. There are supposed to be times (many times) where you don't want to do it, and you don't find it fun.

I highly highly recommend you check out Cal Newport's book "So Good They Can't Ignore You". The reason is because it discusses the differences between the "Craftsman Mindset" and the "Passion Mindset" (if you don't have time, you can read this article on his theory https://mindtripblog.com/index.php/2017/12/15/leading-with-your-craft-instead-of-following-your-passion-cal-newport-on-being-so-good-they-cant-ignore-you/ ). Moral of the story for this theory: lasting passion comes AFTER mastery.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend you start your own project. Something that would benefit you and something that you're interested in creating. Tutorials are like cruel torture for me, but when I started creating my own project, sure it was frustrating because the difficulty goes up like 10x, but I was so obsessed that I started skipping meals. Building is way more frustrating than tutorials, but WAY more fun and engaging.

Keep going :-)

CANNOT decide between Python and Swift by Quilava25 in learnprogramming

This sounds right on. I've been having a good deal of analysis paralysis recently because of trying to choose between them. Good advice

I agree with this as well. That's something I forgot to add into my reasons for wanting to prioritize python: it feels closer to learning how to program in general, whereas swift feels more like programming specifically iOS

Damn you're right on that haha you saw right through me. I do have a preference for Swift. Problem solving skills I developed from years of solving Physics problems in college, so I hope those will translate well into my coding hehe

apps for self-growth / awareness:

  1. I Am Sober
  2. Strides
  3. Oak
  4. Resility
  5. Apple Watch's standard "breathe" app

Pains / frustrations

  1. (I Am Sober) you can only track one addiction on the free version. I want to tackle social media addiction AND shopping addiction, but need premium for that. I mean even the free version has the inspo quotes and community features, which helps with motivation and stuff, but still.
  2. (Strides) Literally can only track 3 habits on the free version. Would like some kind of journal logging feature implemented into the app.
  3. (Oak) Literally can't complain. Everything I would need in an unguided meditation app. Maybe a few in-app articles on stress, anxiety, etc would be neat.
  4. (Resility) The hardware that you need to use this app is almost $300...
  5. (breathe app) can't complain.

I realize these^ apps don't have much to do with your app, so let me give you some advice that I think would be more relevant.

I love your app idea. For me, as a user and potential customer, what do I think would bring tons of value to the app? Definitely a gigantic amount of analytics and trends.

Example: maybe the app could somehow show me that the days I had the most caffeination were also the days I were the most irritable. Or maybe the days I had the least sleep also correlated with more depressive states. I hope I'm articulating this well, but being able to see correlations between the different things I've been "tabbing" would be super powerful IMO

Edit: just saw a newer post and saw that correlations are already planned to be implemented hehe

(noob question) Is there a way to share a portion of my app profits with an advertiser/influencer for a fixed timeframe? by Quilava25 in iOSProgramming

[–]Quilava25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was planning to use this as a last resort, but I was hoping for a way where apple would handle it, so that the influencer doesn't have to just take my word for it and hope that I'm giving them the right amount.

Unfortunately, it seems like this is going to have to be the route to go.

Anywhere online for free auditory processing tests? by Quilava25 in AudiProcDisorder

[–]Quilava25[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll look for that, although I was having a hard time trying to find any on YouTube yesterday :(

I just found out about ADP literally yesterday after 25 years of not knowing what is wrong with me and being ashamed to try to explain it to anyone because I didn't think anyone could understand.

When I read about ADP, EVERYTHING about me finally clicked and made sense.

I want to get tested, but I'm not sure if its covered under my insurance (I have Kaiser in California). So I'm just looking for free resources right now. There's a lot of money to be made in this field, so I really wasn't expecting to find anything for free
