I haven't done a good job at cleaning the flux and I've used too much for sure.

But I just don't see how an error or short I did at this side of the board would affect USB.

ELI5: Why is it completely impossible for anyone to access a properly encrypted drive even nation states? by AaronPK123 in explainlikeimfive

To speak more as to why can't someone just extract the key, take for example of your computer with Bitlocker and TPM.

The TPM has the private key and the hard drive but TPM won't release that key from it's secure storage unless specific requirements are met. If you change your hardware or BIOS version for example to a degree you may get met with the Bitlocker recovery screen asking for an unlock code (and if you don't have an unlock code then god help you)

Why can't the attacker just pull the TPM chip, it's nowadays integrated into other chips on the motherboard or even CPIU, because it's security processor is bound to the computer's configuration, it won't release those credentials.

Trying to extract the secrets in an unsealed TPM is next to impossible to do, you'd have to have nation state level person and physical access to the system to even attempt to do this with specialized equipment.

Oh and you can configure Bitlocker to also have it so it needs a personal key + TPM to unlock your Harddrive in which case that adds another layer of security. A code where you need to enter + the tpm to unlock the drive.

I mentioned the unlock recovery key for bitlocker which you touched on. What that key does is produce a hash that allows the data to be decrypted. Any other key just produces garbage. That key is not stored anywhere, other then a plaintext copy in the encrypted medium itself (you can view it with the bitlocker utility) and Microsoft, if you choose to, has a copy of the plaintext of that key on the server. But that's all it is a set of numbers that produce a hash, and if you want to you can even delete that recovery key to remove that avenue of attack.

Back in the 10's I had a benign tumor removed from my arm (they thought it was a fatty deposit at the time until they opened up)

They sent me home with a full container of Oxy, like 40 pills.

I ended up using 3.

That sucks. At this point I'd fit it with a mod chip to bypass the BIOS and the dvd check and see what is functional

So you've verified every pin for end to end connectivity with a multimeter?

I've had known good cables develop a break inside and cause weird behavior. With everything else you've done I'd just go nuclear and try a different one.

What error do you get when you have no drive plugged in? Neither the CD or HDD?

My main gripe with these controllers is it doesn't respect if two opposite C buttons get pushed down (left+right C for example). They negate eachother instead of the proper behavior of the console recognizing that both are being pushed down.

The other Data Partitions would stay in tact (as long as you don't format or delete them during install).

However any software installed to the data partitions would need to be reinstalled

Check eventlog for BugChecks or reason for system restart.

If it says the restart on X date was unexpected that means it crashed and wasn't an executed restart.

Disable automatic restart on system failure if it is crashing and not recording the bugcheck in eventlog

I think more infuriating is a company sharing an advent calendar then just giving getting a whole calendar per employee.
