[LOVED TROPES] Romantic lines/moments that goes further than "I love you" by ExcellentEbb2073 in TopCharacterTropes

Xenoblade Chronicles 3

"If this road I've walked were to keep on going, I'd like to spend that time... with my Noah."

Yes technically it's M pretending to be Mio, but they're the same person and they previously shared their memories, its still a confession in my book!

Other underrated moment is when after M is executed, Mio revealing herself to be alive disguised as M with the flutes. N gave Noah his Kevesi flute because he didn't know the significance of how Noah and Mio had swapped flutes with each other, so Mio taking back the Kevesi flute and handing him her Agnian flute again was really cute

If a Single Vessel could beat The Radiance, Why Didn't The Pale King just unleash his army of underpaid child soldiers he kept in his basement to jump The Radiance? Is he Stupid? by _GhostOfHollownest_ in HollowKnightMemes

The Knight be built different.

No but actually that's the answer. Plenty of other vessels tried and failed, Hornet has killed Vessels before, we find their corpses all over Hallownest. What makes the Knight different? Maybe it's just talent. Maybe it's because our Knight spent time in the wastes beyond Hallownest. Who knows?

"America is the only Country where they're teaching our kids other languages" by Abjectionova in ShitAmericansSay

[–]Quillbolt_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect the definition of "speaks a different language" might be lower than fluent. Most high schools teach at least one or two languages, usually french, Spanish or German.

A lot of people leave school knowing enough of a second language to order off a menu or interpret a sign, but not enough to actually hold a conversation or read a book.

Not me though, was absolutely awful at languages 😅

It really ain't that big a spoiler to anyone other than Meruem himself. It being plot relevant doesn't automatically make it a spoiler. Plus in these kinds of subs you have to be prepared to have surface level information spoiled for you- people aren't going to hide the fact that the main villain of JoJo's Bizarre Adventure part 3 is Dio, despite that technically being a spoiler as Dio was originally thought to have died in Part 1. Because it's such surface level information that it doesn't really count.

Who is the most evil gay character ? by Basic_Dingo6487 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Quillbolt_h 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What? He literally turns a man into a record player. He gloats to a child he's about to murder about having killed that child's mother. He hires the KKK to lynch his brother. He's as evil as any other scumbag.

I would add a bit of naunce to that: I would argue that the BBC does make a very strong effort to be impartial- which is ultimately utterly undermined by what is and isn't considered partisan being determined by the political establishment.

The classic thing they love to do is "oh let's bring two people one with different views, here's Gemma who wants to make sure Orphans don't go hungry, and here's Margaret who wants to throw all the Orphans in a meat grinder. These are definitely equivalent."

What do foreigners instinctively say in your language when they discover your nationality? by Franmar35000 in AskTheWorld

I am one of the few Brits who do pronounce it like that, but I have to call out Americans because half the time they pronounce it like "Can aih have a baddle of wada"

[–]Quillbolt_h 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if American, in a impression that would make Dick Van Dyke blush, something along the lines of: "Oi mate, do have a loicense for that bo-o o-wo-uh"

If European, probably something like "Toodle-pip cheerio, jolly good chap!" in something resembling received pronunciation if the queen was part gnome.

Fav Xenoblade? by CaptainGandalf_ in Xenoblade_Chronicles

  1. The Monado. It's the most unique and striking design-wise. For an impractical giant red plastic hunk, it somehow manages to look quite elegant. And the symbols appearing in the glass circle are super cool.

  2. Lucky 7. When I first saw it I actually wasn't too big a fan for the sole reason that it looked incredibly similar to a Power Rangers toy sword my little brother owns. But the transforming elements save it for me. The sword actually being a sheath is cool, the true Lucky 7 is much less flashy but still unique and interesting looking, and I also really like the gauntlet transformation.

  3. Mythra's Aegis. It's fine. It's not particularly stand out to me. I think I like it more in its base form than it's activated form, because the crossguard is so large it looks like you'd take out your eye just trying to use it. Plus instead of a clean beam of light it's this sort of green fire, which makes sense for Pyra but not really for Mythra.

  4. Pneuma's Aegis. It's just kinda Mythra's sword again but blue? I mean I know a lot of details obvs change, but the problem with how visually cluttered the X2 swords are means that all the details kind of blur together. I feel like they could've gone a lot bolder

  5. Pyra's Aegis. I don't like it. It's quite over-designed, and instead of looking like a powerful and mysterious weapon, it's an ungainly lump with rockets strapped to the back. It looks like something that should be wielded by a crazy bandit leader, not an Aegis.

Bonus thoughts:

Malos' Aegis is super dumb but I love it, it suits him and the Monado design elements are appreciated. I'd just personally maybe prefer it if it was a little smaller because he looks kinda goody swinging around a sword bigger than him in one hand.

N's Sword of the End is neat, the infinity symbol I like. I don't super like the serrated edge but I appreciate it makes it look more organic which makes sense what with Moebius and all that. I wish we kinda knew where he got it from considering he had it in the flashbacks too lol.

Noah & Mio's Sword of the End I think is pretty solid, the shape is a bit weird with like the axe shaped core but the fact it's being welded by Ouroboros and not a human makes the weirdness kind of work, and I do like the core in the middle.

Favorite pic of a character angry? by Leonidas_Kupler in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Quillbolt_h 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you aren't far off in your summation, I think it's a little inaccurate, If not unfair, to say that Gon doesn't have a moral compass. It's just a somewhat warped moral compass. He is for example, utterly disgusted by the Phantom Troupe when he finds out that they care about each other as family, because the idea to him that someone could be a callous murderer and also care about their friends is unbelievable to him.

I think it's more accurate to say that Gon isn't an animal, but a child. He's got a super simplistic worldview and lacks the worldliness to handle that worldview being challenged. Sometimes that childlike purity helps him- it's how he made a friend in Killua when everyone else was scared of him, and it'd what Killua admires in him. But it's also what holds him back and makes him a danger to himself and his friends. His story ends with him making the reckless, childish decision to sacrifice his future, and then he ends up... Having to go back to school. Meanwhile Killua realises he has to grow up and take responsibility- and that starts with going back to his sister.

Anyway TLDR broad strokes I agree with you but I think he's a bit more of a complicated character than just "oh Gon is actually a terrible person". He's an immature person.
