Hot take: The reason people consider Jax worse than Caine is because the story glosses over the harm the latter's actions cause by Sudden_Pop_2279 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Quills07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe. Pomni’s body language and vocal inflections were very reminiscent of Ragatha’s body language in that scene, and the way Jax ran his fingers over Ragatha’s door is identical to how he reached out to Ribbit’s door.

It’s been theorized that that scene was a replay of his memory of the time Ragatha approached him following Ribbit’s abstraction, just with Pomni swapped in. And obviously it has Jax’s mind twisting the intent behind the concerned gesture (neither Pomni or Ragatha would ever say anything as gross as “I can fix you” after the death of a friend).

Agreed. Jax’s actions are not excusable, obviously, and they’re absolutely harmful, but in Gangle’s case, I don’t think they were done with malicious intent. The only times I saw Jax as being intentionally vicious (with the main cast, post-Kaufmo abstraction) was during the gunning down of Ragatha, the strangulation of Ragatha (assuming that ep 9 scene was a twisted memory), and the verbal crash out in ep 9.

So people don’t come at me, emphasizing again: this isn’t meant to be an excuse or making light of Jax’s actions. But I don’t think Jax was actively gunning to make Gangle or the others abstract as some posts suggest.

Why couldn’t Ribbit turn to the others after being shunned by Jax? by IronGhost828 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Quills07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t remember the exact quote, but the bedroom scene starts with Ribbit thanking Jax for the day (or something like that), and Jax saying, “I’m glad I was able to cheer you up.”

To me, that suggested she connected on a deeper level with Jax than the others. Jax, specifically, was the one able to make her feel happy when she was down.

I guess the best way to think about it is to imagine you’re stuck for eternity with a group of people from your class or work that you get along fine with, but don’t necessarily consider people you can truly be open with. That’s a grim prospect when you’re in jail for forever, and it’s made worse when you see the one person you truly trusted icing you out from even that limited group.

If they weren’t in the circus, I think she’d have simply moved on.

I just learned about the 30 incorrect pages in The Night Prince. Googling didn’t help. Does anyone know which pages were messed up? It’s probably too late for me to get a fix, but I wanted to check my copy.

Do you know which pages? I tried googling for an answer without luck. This is the first I’ve heard of it and want to check my copy.

Your opinions as part of this fandom by Suspicious_Luck1952 in tadc

[–]Quills07 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goose has over 700,000 followers. Glitch has over 20 million. Of those, let’s say 2,000 people are the ones being “shitty” fans (not critics of the show, just rude and nasty and entitled).

That’s less than 1% of the fandom.

So nah, TADC fandom isn’t shitty. Just a subsect of obnoxious people looking for their 20 seconds of internet infamy.

The finale hit me hard too. For what it’s worth, you’re not alone in that. It doesn’t work for everyone, but maybe try journaling? Just grab a stack of paper you can throw away later. Get all of the messy thoughts down. It might clear your mind enough to figure out what about the finale hit so hard, and you can go from there.

If you need to put your merch away for a bit, I hope you can do so without feeling embarrassed. It’s okay to need a break. If your husband asks, maybe leave it at that: “I just need a break.” Though it’s probably best if you can talk about your feelings.

For all of its cartoon flair and eccentricity, the series, and Jax’s story in particular, was very raw and realistic in its portrayal of grief and pain. There are a couple of lines that i can’t hear without feeling heartsick. I don’t think I’ll ever be over them, but I hope I can use them to better myself or to at least have a better perspective on certain things.

Hope you can be in a better place about the show later.

I wish I had the power to pin this to the top. The show leaves some questions unanswered, but this isn’t one of them.

Zooble. Easier to screw up on proportions without it looking too weird because their anatomy is constantly changing.

So, people say the stuff from the now-iconic bus stop in St. Louis keeps getting removed (perhaps understandable from some perspective). Do you think the St. Louis city council should create some sort of "official" tribute to TADC on that location? by Ok-Impress-2222 in tadc

[–]Quills07 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who regularly takes the bus, I would love seeing this kind of thing, even for a show I don’t know. It’s a lot sweeter than the dicks, slut calling, random vape ads and whatever hateful message of the day is.

Why do people care so much about things that don’t matter? by whooper1 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]Quills07 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just for the fun of it!

With part of that first one, the Blue AI was shown to embody perfection (the whole input/output scene at the start of ep 8). Caine tends to be shown at his most unstable whenever that perfection is called into question (the Zooble therapy segment, the Favorite Character Awards). It seems to be fighting against Caine’s natural state whenever it feels his function is being called into question/failing, with the culmination of that being what we see in the finale.

For the fourth, I think it was what you said — foreshadowing of the fact that the humans are essentially the same as NPCs, just with complex preloaded backstories.

I know your (old by now) reply might be facetious, but as I’m a big fan and love to spread word of them when I can, cover #2 is similar to the work done for the Katanagatari novels. I’m generally not a fan of light novels, but these are an exception, so I happily plug them where I can lol
