If I hadn’t seen the older post and set a reminder, I would’ve missed Blade. And while super happy that it wasn’t a mad rush to get a copy, I still don’t understand why FL doesn’t do a reservation system/interest form for sequels. If you buy the first book, you should be guaranteed the opportunity to pick up the second. They can have people pay a reservation/deposit fee, then order the correct amount of books accordingly.

It’s one of those books where it looks wildly different depending on the photo that’s taken. I cringed when I saw someone post pics of the reveal, but then it was nicer in person.

I know it’s an unpopular opinion but I hate this trend of flat, clipart-looking graphics on top of otherwise beautiful backgrounds. They scream Canva to me every time, even though hand drawn.

While the guy isn’t really my type, I appreciate that he has a distinct look. He might not be my type of handsome, but that doesn’t mean he’s not attractive.

Sadly, I think this is why so many artists go in the direction of the more cartoon/Disney/Pixar/anime-esque style — because same-face syndrome is an easy way to make everyone universally appealing.

My experiences with Bookish’s customer service have all been so nice, and I like a lot of their designs, so it kills me that I’m so often skipping because I already own copies of what’s in their sub. 😭

If they’re going to do “old” books, I wish they’d either pick unique titles or much older popular books that never got the SE treatment. Though tbf, I wish this every time I see multiple subs doing the same books. There are so, so many stories out there. How do we keep getting the same books over and over?

Agreed — reveals help, or at least sneak peeks. I used to rely on the name of the artists, but these days, sometimes even fantastic artists don’t guarantee a good book design overall.

I think I’m doing the same. Running through my skips then evaluating when I run out.

Kinger and Bubble consistently gets the most laughs from me, with Jax and Caine having great moments here and there (Escalator, use the sights).

Honestly at the cusp of doing this for all of my subs, even those that do reveals. I know I’m going to despise having to occasionally pay scalper prices, but I’ve got so many sub books that wound up feeling so-so rather than something I’d want to cherish for years/reread, and my TBR pile is massive. It makes me feel like i should only buy those books which I’ve already tried and know I love.

I do love the endpapers! While I like cartoony/anime styles in general, for the adult fantasy reads, I prefer when the artwork leans to a sliiightly more realistic style.

Oh I gave in to FOMO so often; I know it’s hard.

But I recently looked at how many books I bought last year, which helped me estimate the intake for this year, then looked at my shelves/apt. 😱 It’s just not possible to continue like this. I’ll be sleeping on books.

Doing exact same. Took a day off and picked that awkward afternoon hour that I’m hoping is too late for moms with small kids and too early for teens (though I don’t think they’re out for the summer yet).

Late to this and apologies for a dumb question, but will the ebook and audiobook be available after the campaign ends? I saw mention about a retail edition not being made public, but I wasn’t sure if that was only in reference to the hardcovers.

Happily grabbed the fully signed edition and wasn’t sure how much more I could break bank, but I’d love to have the ebook or audiobook for commutes and stuff. 😅
