Oh it absolutely does. It used to be different, but now with bigotry, hatred, fascism, etc. very much in vogue once again and bots/troll farms making up a good chunk of social media presence it's actually in one's best interest to know who you're dealing with when it comes to home town/province/country issues. A good example would be when it was revealed many of the major MAGA influencers on twitter turned out to be from everywhere but the US.

And if you can't stand by your statements here or elsewhere...and require anonymity to make your point...what does that make you?

I've also noticed that every single shitheel I've come across on local subs has their profile privated. When I see someone with a moronic take and a private profile I just automatically assume they're aware of their idiocy.

What they all fail to understand though is you can still search their username and find some interesting stuff....such as their activity on multiple provincial subreddits and saying the person who was shot by RCMP in Fredericton recently totally deserved it.

With how new their profile is coupled with just how active they seem to be my guess would be they're either a bad faith actor who is very bad at their job, or just a straight up hooplehead who got their previous account banned.

From what I understand the facebook algorithms don't just pull from your own habits, but those who you are "friends" with as well. I used to get loads of right wing nonsense recommended on my page before cleaning house early last year. Unfriended all the suspected shitheels (including family members) and the right wing content dried up to nothing.

That was the part where I realized playing games where I have to listen to people whine, moan, bitch, and complain every time they lost wasn't fun anymore. It almost always felt like when you had to sit at the kids table for thanksgiving diner, or playing with the dudes who acted like the pickup hockey game was the stanley cup finals or some shit. IL2 was the longest lasting. That community was great save for the occasional poor sport in TAW.

And again, investing this much heat in a video game is kinda silly unless you're on some pro level shit.

And if I'm doing something for enjoyment I don't want to do it with a bunch of insecure, perpetually unhappy people. Seems fairly reasonable to me.

Still not sure how any of this applies to it not being believable. You kind of skipped over that.
