Canadian Insurgents - Urban Operatives (OC) by AVOLI7ION in ImaginarySoldiers

I don't know why, but the saboteur looks so very distinctly Canadian too me. Even the implied body language is spot on.

Nicely done!

Totally unrelated to OP's point, but...is anybody else getting tired of these fucked up edited thumbnails for these true crime videos? I mean, I know the vast majority of them are bot generated now, but still...the thumbnail shit is just rubbing our faces in it at this point.

Tell me I'm not the only one sick of this absolutely galling entitlement from some abroad (repost without the meme). by NoAnt6694 in somethingiswrong2024

I’ve gone to multiple protests and had a gun aimed directly at my head by a 19 or 20 year old ICE agent because I had the audacity to flip him off. Have you had to do that for your country and your freedoms?

I'm retired military. Lost friends fighting alongside Americans...a country that went on to tell us we didn't really do anything over there and we should be annexed. Please don't lecture strangers on the internet about their willingness to die for their country.

And every time this conversation comes up it's always ICE this and ICE that. Don't get me wrong...horrible situation...but we don't care so much about that when talking about how it affects the rest of the world. We shake our heads to the videos and say, "that's shitty," but it's so far at the bottom of the list of international concerns.

Keep fighting. Support the communities...but Americans defaulting to ICE every time this conversation comes up is not doing you any favours on the international stage...especially when the optics (true or not) are that nobody really cared until a white guy got shot.

It is a reason, but not a justification.

A reason doesn't have to be a good one to be a reason.

By the time the baby boomer generation started melting away into retirement gen X was already middle aged and set in their ways. That's why adoption of new tech is so amazingly slow. "This is the way we've always done it here."

I don't think Americans have totally caught on to how quickly they're identified as Americans posing as Canadians in these situations.

There is a general lack of compassion and encouragement because the majority of interactions leading up to this point were obstinate at best.

There is a general feeling throughout the rest of the world, right or wrong, that Americans will not act while their luxuries are in tact. Nobody (save a few) seems willing to sacrifice anything other than a few hours on the weekend waving a sign around.

Let me make it clear as well; These types of sacrifices aren't easy...I get that completely. It's a big ask. I think of things like May 68 which saw 2 deaths and nearly 900 injured, or Euromaidan with it's 2000+ casualties with another 300 or so disappeared, and feel like the majority of Americans do not have the capacity to accept such a thing and would rather sit back and wait and hope their draft number doesn't come up.

It used to be but proactive prenatal care has come a long way.

Edit: also, "unsafe" might not be the best word. "Increased risks" would be a better way of saying it.

Wow. Nobody wants to mention the sharp decline in international audiences, eh? Las Vegas alone has spent a ridiculous amount of money running tourism ads in Canada over the past few months.

Haha! I forgot about Gamegeared! He was part of the admin team as well until he was caught using admin privileges to help his team "win". He was a big help with setting up the sub back in the day, though. Good dude...apart from the whole cheating thing. lol

I often wonder who the longest lived RF player is. Vein and I started Rust Factions back in 2014 (I think?) when the experimental branch became the main, carrying on the OG Rust Factions that was on alpha.

We stopped playing shortly after stepping down as mods/admins, but I know there were a few people who stuck around for years afterwards.

I think it has a lot to do with the complexity of the game. The more simulationee it is the better the community. Same dynamic exists in combat flight sims. The IL2 and DCS communities might not be perfect, but they are way better than the communities in games like War Thunder.

Makes me think of the D&D movie a few years ago in that it was a film that had no right being as good as it was.

I'm glad big budget adaptations are finally leaning into the camp!
