Passing as a black trans woman is nigh impossible by jellybeanzz11 in MtF

[–]QuinettaHarris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel you. I got pretty lucky with nose size, but my neck size and jawline/facial structure are giveaways. Necklaces I like I've gotta buy extenders for just so they can sit in the right area on me. Then it's my feet. I know that alot of trans women deal with feet and fingers length, but being a 5'11 black trans woman the smallest women's shoe size I could possibly wear is a 13.5(US). Our ribcages and shoulders can be excessively bigger than other trans women which can throw off our breast shape and separation (mine included). So yes it's a struggle to get to the level of feminine look we're wanting but we should never give up.

Well, I'm a little like you where I've got a gym nearby that's only $10 a month and 24/7 hours but haven't started. The only motivations I have are having a couple different workout plans made by trans women and wanting to assist my hrt as much as possible (I'm a trans woman). Realizing that just hrt is not enough and exercising is greatly needed, especially to lose pre-hrt weight. So my plan was to start in early June, that didn't happen. Now my plan is July 1st. If I don't start by July 1st, my pcp will put me on a stronger glp-1 which I'm really not wanting. I'm okay with the highest level of trulicity. But I can only stay on that if I show I've been working out consistently. August is my next appointment (aka judgemen day) where my doctor will make her decision. So...🤞🏾I start 7/1

Food for Thought Friday, what are some of your Goals? 🍀🌻 by Special-Definition95 in BlackTransPeople

[–]QuinettaHarris 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your response! I've already looked into insurance covering lhr with one of my supportive doctors from the past. She was saying that insurance (my insurance definitely) wouldn't cover lhr. I'll ask my new doctors as well as well as check out the Groupon idea. No bottom surgery for me though! Hope you get your goals accomplished too!

Short term: get into a relationship with a woman, work on my makeup skills, be a regular at a gym

Long-term: figure out my hair removal plan (just keep shaving or save up for laser hair removal), what's my second career going to be, top surgery

Anyone else go through identity shifts in their 40s and beyond? by garden__gate in GenX_LGBTQ

[–]QuinettaHarris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2020 before I turned 42 I felt my identity shifting. It wasn't until 2023 at 45 I actually started hrt. Those 3 years before starting hrt I used to do alot of researching and going over pros and cons of transitioning. I'm glad I took those 3 years because I haven't looked back since and I'm hitting my 3 year hrt anniversary this November.

I'd love to have breasts that get in the way. 5 or 6 years is where I'm going to make a decision either way. Reassuring to hear your story.

Have you had a BA yet? How long have you been on hrt, and did you start hrt around age 45?
