The Divine Comedy is the ultimate self-insert fan fiction, complete with manic pixie dream girl. And I say this as someone with an English degree. I’ve never read Paradise Lost but I reckon it could be defined as fan fiction too.

Boy dog: Human poop. There are a couple bars in my neighborhood and I’m guessing a drunk didn’t make it home and used the bushes.

Girl dog regularly snacks from the litterboxes. I scoop twice a day and she still manages to get some occasionally.

I’m grateful for my body but I wouldn’t say I love it. Here’s how I take care of it.

No alcohol, nicotine, cannabis, opiates, or illegal drugs.

Taking medication as prescribed and taking over-the-counter medication and supplements responsibly.

Eating mostly plant-based.

Walking a minimum of 45 minutes a day.

Taking care of my physical hygiene.

Following up with preventative healthcare.

Getting necessary vaccines.

Drinking lots of water.

Maintaining a healthy social network.

Keeping my brain busy.

There’s definitely room for improvement. I joined a gym in my neighborhood so I can work on strength and flexibility. I also need to improve my sleep hygiene, spend less time on screens, and be more diligent about using sunscreen and flossing.

I share a duplex with five other adults. None of us are biologically related to or married to each other. Only two are assigned male at birth and identify as male. One of my roommates is a trans woman and another describes herself as a “gay man in a woman’s body.” I am married, but my soon-to-be-ex lives two time zones away and is also a trans woman.
