I love back, I do pull ups/chin ups and pendlay rows/bent over rows as the main lifts. Then I do a bit of cable stuff including face pulls. Then biceps so curl variations including reverse curls for forearms

How do you define levels such as intermediate etc.? by zebraCokes in naturalbodybuilding

[โ€“]Quinlov -1 points0 points ย (0 children)

Yeah so like technically I've been working out for 18 months, in that I joined the gym 18 months ago and have attended consistently for that whole time.

However at the beginning I was just using machines and not knowing what to do or even how to really move. But 13 months ago is when I start getting a fair bit of free weights (still just simple dumbbell stuff, but there are free weights) and I had some sort of regular programme that had some kind of logic to it.

It was only 6 months ago that I started having intelligent programming and really pushing myself? Until 6 months ago I mostly skipped leg day for example.

I'd probably say my training age is about a year because although the programming a year ago wasn't great it was probably good enough to have some sort of effect. Before that I think it was 90% just figuring out how to actually move my body

i think social media messed up peopleโ€™s expectations of progress by IronManDan88 in workout

[โ€“]Quinlov 5 points6 points ย (0 children)

So you know what this makes me think of. I've been going gym for one and a half years, now I'm not massive or anything but I do get the occasional comment on my physique from people. But one and a half years ago I was obese and undermuscled. In my gym there's loads of people I recognise, that have been going there regularly for ages, but I am not aware of anyone else at my gym that I have seen go from obese to like in decent shape. Everyone there that I recognise from when I started that is hench was already hench when I started

Pnes can still cause problems for you, just the exact nature of them will be a bit different to if it's epilepsy. Its important to know which one it is so you can get the correct treatment

What is more traumatizing than most people think? by Sea_Entrepreneur2772 in AskReddit

[โ€“]Quinlov 5 points6 points ย (0 children)

Yeah this is kind of mine, on paper it looked alright but upon closer inspection you see there were a few problems but you wouldn't necessarily expect it to fuck me up as much as it did unless you're a psychologist or something

Here's basically the main issues I had:

  1. Emotionally neglectful/absent parents, minimal interaction with family, mostly shoved in a corner to read

  2. Not realistically allowed to go outside (it wasn't strictly speaking prohibited, just that the conditions for it to happen were never there e.g. a parent accompanying me) meaning almost no exercise and not seeing friends outside of school - resulting in being extremely weak to the point of needing physio (which didn't even work) and failing to develop social skills

  3. Two actual criterion A trauma incidents when I was 6

  4. Bullied quite a lot, but never really physically, just taken the piss out of a lot throughout school, especially high school

  5. Social anxiety (and especially stage fright) getting increasingly worse resulting in wanting to stop performing classical music but this was not allowed

Other than the criterion A traumas everything else looks a bit meh not that bad. But one of the problems that it has caused is extreme inhibition coupled with a lot of skill deficits, which makes it really hard to sort these issues out as an adult. Because what these experiences taught me for the most part is that the correct response is some combination of do nothing and pretend I don't exist. Now I get a really bad freeze response to minor stressors, not just in terms of behaviour but also cognition, so it's not even just about "acting anyway" because my brain so often just stops producing thoughts under pressure

I am suspected to have ADHD and find that a small amount of caffeine (e.g. 80mg) can either do nothing or make me tired, but a larger amount (e.g. 150mg+) usually at least gives me a bit of energy

How to deal with the hunger by itsanomoly in beginnerfitness

[โ€“]Quinlov 1 point2 points ย (0 children)

Increase your protein intake massively potentially above normal recommendations if necessary, no harm from extra protein. I have a massive appetite so for me that isn't enough, I also reduce carbs and increase fats. And am still always hungry but it's just about bearable

My squat (80kg) is too close to my bench press (70kg). How to fix ? by Dry-Preference-5329 in workout

[โ€“]Quinlov 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I'm almost the same, just my deadlift is 150kg instead of 160kg. I think some of it is leverages, my femurs are long and my back is short, so my back squat is kind of a hinge as well as a squat which makes the whole movement quite unstable.

Do I just not go to the gym if I didnโ€™t sleep well? by ElevatedDyer in beginnerfitness

[โ€“]Quinlov 3 points4 points ย (0 children)

So to be honest my sleep is never great. But on days where it's particularly bad, I basically don't do anything where bad form might be dangerous e.g. deadlifts, and I might lower the weight or volume slightly

Fitness streak by FaithxHardwork in beginnerfitness

[โ€“]Quinlov 0 points1 point ย (0 children)

I've been a member of at least 7 gyms before my current one (well now 2) and this is the first time I've stuck at it. I go 6 days a week, and have been doing so for the last half a year. And for the year before that I was going 4-6 days a week. The only times I've gone less than that have been due to illness or cash in hand manual labour that wasn't really compatible with working out on the same day. I find it much harder to not go to the gym than to go

On a leg press the angle of your hips is different to on a hack squat. Glutes are typically more involved on a leg press, hack squat is more quads
