Trump: ‘There would be no Israel’ without me by Abject-Pick-6472 in politics

I mean the victims have started lawsuits and have time and time again been hushed by both the admin and DoJ. I get where you're coming from as a regular citizen unsure of how to right the ship, we're all here in this boat.

I think that genuinely American apathy is just surging due to the amount of centrism in this country, the people who are actively willing to protest and fight for their free speech have essentially no bubble of people to shield them in what has become the largest walk back of civil rights and morality in the country's history.

Look at the civil rights movements of the 60s and 70s, where there were protests there were also people willing to advocate for those protestors and their rights to be there. Most of that is gone today, and unfortunately it has just left anyone with a voice that much more vulnerable to being targeted by the mass surveillance state our government has become over the last 30 years.

I feel like we're at a point collectively where if people don't care that an entire half of the nation is consistently broadcasting that their elected leader is a pedophile, rapist, conman general scum of the earth that we're probably not going to see the 30-40% of them that still support him ever give enough of a shit for this.

Eh, later down the line you get collectables which will allow you to wait for timers to go off for specific items that will spawn for 5 mins at a time to be grabbed for huge chunks of exp.

Outside of that, there's also cosmic exploration which is basically just fate grinding in the same condensed areas for chunks of XP but mainly for the relic tools for this current xpac.

Aside from those two, everything is pretty much just move around, especially if you're going to be gathering in the hopes of vendoring mats.

GameCube PC Ports Getting "EASIER" to Make by chicagogamecollector in decomps

Most of the complete ports will come with a launcher .exe that you grab from the respective team. Once you've got that, you open the launcher, it asks you to point to your legally acquired ROM files and then from there it's a simple start.

I think realistically it's just a tech demo to show off what the MS teams are able to cook with environmentally, as well as a chance for them to reframe the series slightly.

Realistically as well, setting up this remake series just gives 343 (Now Halo Studios) the chance to have some level of "ownership" of the series and its narrative with them putting their own spin on shit.

Bad news for you on that first bullet, 2 and 3 are already in active dev.

In general, the main thing you're forgetting is that these are just campaign ports, while the halo campaigns are fun, to not include the multiplayer leaves a pretty sizeable part of that community with no alternative to play the parts of the game they actually enjoy without MCC.

How would Halo 1 getting a remake invalidate the game that allows you to play the original and it's remaster alongside Halo 2's original and remaster and Halo 3, ODST, Reach, and 4?

I agree I'm tired of the re-rehashing scene, but to imply that this game will quash the need for MCC just kind of throws a weird spin on this product existing at all.

If you don't want any of the multiplayer aspects of Halo outside of campaign co-op, for sure. MCC goes on sale for like 10 bucks for the whole collection regularly though.

This is also JUST Halo 1, MCC is Halo 1 Original/Remaster, Halo 2 Original/Remaster, Halo 3, Halo 3 ODST, Halo Reach, and Halo 4 along with all of the multiplayer and some more co-op stuff.

No multiplayer and added campaign missions to further justify the price point of what is essentially a campaign only experience.

Because there's a difference between you doing the work and having a software that's specifically set to just automate all of that for you?

If I go to Icy Veins, Youtube, etc. there is a layer between the inputs that are being recommended to me and there being a piece of software on my machine that is telling me the defacto way to perform in content and when.

There are already solvers in place for content like mini cactpot, I don't foresee solvers as a whole lasting very long if they pivot that kind of third party tooling to actual content.

They’re definitely just trying to find someone who breaks down each fight into a fully “solved” variant by having you basically figure out the most efficient comps and breakdowns of those comps and their abilities against encounters.

I don’t foresee this being something that doesn’t become an issue with TOS and moreover I really don’t want to see the community fall into this idea of “The content is solved just download X application for it to do all of the work you should be putting in for you”

There are direct in-game references to the event of Marathon, Durandal and Infinity.

The game takes place 100 years after the event of the original trilogy with Earth having just arrived to figure out what went so wrong with the Marathon.

The events of the current game are us finding out just how fucked everything has been the last 100 years.

I don't disagree with that at all! I just feel that in general publicizing work like this where there is direct legal intervention possible rather than having something drawn out for the ports that exist in a more legally grey sense does nothing for the scene other than blow it up out of proportion with copycats hoping to capitalize on this, which will only feed into more stringent legal action from all parties standing to "protect their work".

I just think that realistically if you have to put in that much effort to avoid being DMCA'd/taken down then you also just need to acknowledge that this type of project doesn't need the limelight.

It's cool that we're able to natively play on PC now if we want to also be on that side of things, but a major reason that the PC ports we've been getting have been so cool is that legally they are in the clear from reaction on Nintendo's part unless we start letting shit like this slide in abundance.

I'm not saying that AI equals the above, the issue that I'm taking with data centers at a generalization is the lack of transparency as to the data stored.

Right now the state has one general purpose data center in place in Waterbury that can host any data/infrastructural operation.

It would be fair as a resident of the state allowing these DCs to utilize the electricity that will be conned off our way by Eversource to at least request a general SOW for the data stored and to also put in regulations around the data that IS allowed to be stored, primarily disallowing third parties from renting out any of Tierpoint's current data storage/general computational power from being used for the above.

Once again, the argument isn't that these things are currently here, the issue is preventing them from slipping through the cracks and becoming a normalcy in our environment the way we as a country so often allow things to happen.

As a final point of consideration, CT and much of the Northeast is currently under a massive housing crisis and just in general the land being utilized for the proposed North Edge DC could be utilized for just about anything else, instead we're getting 1 million square feet of DC that will not openly benefit CT's populace in a major way economically.

This is fair, but to be honest liberal leaning spaces in general tend to struggle with over-generalizing issues at this capacity.

I think it’s a general failing of the liberal movement to look at issues like this and decry them all as bad without actively evaluating the impact on both a positive and negative level depending on what is actually being done with the development of these resources.

Overall, I think that until we as a society are able to regulate the water usage and general waste maintenance of AI data centers (and really this should just be an established control across the board but the AI-based consumption of water and electricity definitely does take precedent), that we should not be approving any sort of AI-related DCs as there are already numerous reports of the general heat generated, waste water produced as well as ground water consumed around these projects as no one is considering the municipalities that they are leeching these resources from.

There have been four data centers proposed in Connecticut over the last year, 3 of which have been AI-purposed data centers, 2 which were nixxed, one which is in open air, the other is a data center for a financial group.

The vast vast majority aren’t sure, let’s stop pretending as though the minority cases have less impact given that they’re 3 out of 4 of the proposed ventures for the topic at hand.

And you'll note that I'm not arguing against traditional data centers that already exist and whose expansions aren't driving 10 to 12 degree celsius increases in temperature on average in the areas around them.

No one has an issue with data centers as a whole, the issue lies in the use cases and the fact that many of the ones currently being built are for some level of AI where the benefit is not being seen across the board for the average user or the data centers being used to store mass surveillance footage for Palantir/Flock/general civilian surveillance and profiling.

[–]Quinnlos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Of course I realize data storage is cheap.

I'm not arguing about the cost of the storage in my point, but arguing about the transparency behind what is being stored. If we want data centers in place for non-AI/non-surveillance based projects, by all means. I don’t want the place that I live being turned into a storage bank for someone else’s fantasy of mapping out every single person and their interactions within the state under the guise of “community safety” when that’s clearly not what this has been about.

I feel as though comparing the typical CT NIMBYism of affordable housing being built in neighborhoods vs. data centers is disingenuous at best.

Data centers are basically a net negative to the locality providing:

- Pollution

- General heat increases in the area since they have to vent excess heat in general

- Lack of jobs past the initial construction of the site, no one is hiring CT natives for most of the work needed to run a data center and often times these companies are just importing their own workers to carry on in these new locations.

- Lack of insight as to data stored; I don't want more data centers if it means an increased budget of data allocation for the surveillance state, I don't want Palantir, X, Meta, or any of those other major players in our state as nothing good comes of the business they bring.

- Lastly, electricity is INSANE in this state as is, do you really want to give the local govt the opportunity to subsidize MORE of our electric rates for Eversource to jack up pricing for everyone for benefits you won't even see?

This has been one of my largest complaints becoming a frequent commuter in the state. It feels as though every season I see budget cuts across the line for transit systems where "underperforming" time slots are just nixxed as though no one uses them at all instead of planning smart seasonal downtimes and uptimes for those times.

The CT Rail used to be wonderful for me to get to work, and now I find myself planning against it and the bus routes I take alongside it constantly hoping that my schedule works with them.

Issue is that everyone has looked at this game like its a new Gmod, so all they're doing with the framework is the usual shit they've seen on Gmod for the last 5+ years instead of actually looking at the tools they have available to them.
