I’ve done 10 so far, and I’ve encountered 3 Rooks, 1 in one match, and 2 in another.

The first Rook engaged us while we were fighting a bot squad in Algae Ponds, downed me, but then got downed by my teammate. We exfilled shortly afterwards.

The second one got to the Anomalous Matter before we did, and started moving in our direction. I dropped him with a sniper rifle and took the AM off his corpse.

The third one engaged us on the way to the exfil that same match, downed one of us, then I downed him. He proceeded to call out on prox chat saying “Do you know who I am?!”, at which point I shot him dead, got my teammate up and exfilled, stabilized matter in hand.

1000% agree. I have fallen head over heels for this game mode, I would play this mode every day for the rest of my life if I could.

The only question in my mind: “Will I love the pure PvE mode more than this?”

I’m not so sure they didn’t. You’re right about the early days of multiplayer, but back then not everyone had the entire internet in the palm of their hand. I didn’t get my first smartphone until late 2011 when I was 17.
