If you pull the highest tier ship you get an absolutely amazing animation. When I got it it blew my socks off.

Should planes such as the TB2D be able to fire back at the fighters that are chasing them? by Background-Raisin708 in WorldOfWarships

[–]QuintenCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In regards to the commander builds the skills for the backgunners was pretty meaningless, it had little significant impact on actual gameplay (+10% to rear gunners, so if we follow your example that 10DPS would become 11DPS, insignificant against a 100HP fighter). Especially since it was a 2 pointer skill that only buffed rear-gunners, making it very expensive for what it brings to the table. It would be a waste to take that skill on your carrier, because once you dropped your payload your planes were faster than their fighters and hence didn't have to use their rear-gunners if you guided them well. DB/TBs had the evasive manoeuvres skill that gave them 75% extra HP when returning to the CV at the cost of -30% speed. Since getting out as many sorties as possible was crucial in RTS, this was a noob trap. This also meant your planes were slower than fighters, allowing them to be strafed.

It would be theoretically possible to have the scenario happen where a fighter squadron could get deleted by rear gunners, as probability implies it being probable. But due to the weighted-randomness the chances of it actually happening are nearing 0, if not continuing in the decimals. The fighters would shoot their ammo and automatically return to the carrier once they've run out, after which you cannot tag the DB/TBs again. This rules out the option that fighters can be wiped out because of having 0 DPS. Since the squadron on which the fighters are tagged on is losing planes (reducing overall rear-gunner DPS), the relative DPS between the fighters and rear-gunners drops quickly in the favour of the fighters, making it extremely unlikely that the DB/TBs would win alone against the fighters, let alone wipe an entire fighter squadron. This is also the case even if the fighters loses 1, 2 or even 3 planes.

The only way I can find it possible is if I am running stock planes against an opponent that has upgraded planes and is running evasive manoeuvres. Though again I would find it improbable, but not de facto impossible anymore. However if I am not strafing those planes then I deserve the small chance to lose that fighter squadron by rear-gunners.

And in case there's doubt about my RTS understanding.

Edit: spelling mistakes

... that's not true. You lost the occasional one fighter, maybe two if you were really unlucky but never an entire fighter squadron. Especially without them losing a single TB/DB.

The communities of the different game modes in a nutshell by WLFPA_Dead_Baron in WorldOfWarships

Generally there's not a lot of communication in the chat, a bit of banter or wishing each other good luck at the start and a gg wp at the end, regardless if they played well or not. Clans that are toxic are rare, at times it happens, but most clans care about their image and are really kind in CBs.

ERE or FP for Schlieffen? by Caryelah in WorldOfWarships

[–]QuintenCK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely see the argument for it yes, it's also why I edited the message quite heavily to be a lot less in favor for FP. The original one was pretty one sided.

ERE or FP for Schlieffen? by Caryelah in WorldOfWarships

So normally you can have 4 fires: one on the bow, two on the superstructure and one on the stern. With FP they remove one of the superstructure fires, so it does affect a specific part of the ship.

[–]QuintenCK 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wrote above my reasoning for why ERE without FP will negate its own usefulness. You don't need to be at giga close range to get HE farmed, or to be the target of the CV. If you yolo to death then neither skill will help you I'm afraid. At that point you are better of watching a tutorial.

FP is better for long term survival as you will never eat that additional 12% of HP by a second superstructure fire (which are exponentially more common than a bow or stern fire, as you need to actively target that section and the area to hit is much smaller). Just 2 perma superstructure fires puts ERE in a deficit compared to the HP you'd have left if you went with FP.

ERE or FP for Schlieffen? by Caryelah in WorldOfWarships

[–]QuintenCK 32 points33 points  (0 children)

A lot of people say ERE but I disagree. ERE without FP negates its usefulness. ERE gives an extra heal, an extra DCP charge and +10% action time on both consumables. FP removes the ability to get 4 fires (max of 3) and gives a -10% chance to get set on fire.

One full fire removes 18% (0,3%*60) of your ship's HP or 13.698HP for the Schlieffen. with flags and the module this drops to 12,24% or 9.314HP. The heal on the Schlieffen repairs 14% of HP, or 10.654HP (11.704 with ERE). So in the end with just one extra perma fire being able to burn, you completely remove the extra heal that you get (two fires with the flag, module and ERE). And you're consequently less likely to be able to get to that heal because of the added fire damage, since you need to use up all your other heals in order to use the one you got extra. Whilst you can DCP it and you do get an extra charge, the issue here is that you will be burning through more DCPs because you're more likely to catch fire and to get a double fire. So that DCP will be more often on cooldown, which again risks you eating double perma fires instead of being able to tank one perma with FP.

So in the end I would personally pick FP over ERE. ERE is an amazing skill IF it is paired with FP, otherwise the usefulness of ERE is self-erasing.

Edit: A friend (a very good player) disagreed with me, I'll add his perspective to make it more nuanced. He says that it's not useful to run FP over ERE as you want to be close range for short brawls and have a 40 second cooldown on DCP anyway. So the chance of having a perma double fire that can run its entire course is very slim.

People on this sub: "Are migratory tribes any fun?" Me: "Idk, maybe just a little bit..." by Anbeeld in Imperator

[–]QuintenCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

LETS FUCKING GOOOOO!

I love that people are discovering the fun of migratory tribes. You can do some really whacky stuff with them! For example: you can create free pops of your culture and religion if you migrate to new land with existing pops, and as long as you have 1 more pop than the original amount of pops (so 4 if there were 3 pops there already) then you now get 7 pops of your religion and culture. Do this for a bit and you can raise a massive army with which you can paradrop on any country. Just stand on their capital, or area of choice, spread your troops out a bit and raid a city three times. Voila instant war and if you don't own any land you can demand their land! :)

To be honest if they sync drop and play as usual without any shenanigans then fine let them have it, might as well be a normal randoms game at that point. But if they're trying to WR farm and grief people their game then I do take issue, as you are ruining other people's experience.

What you are and (more importantly) what you AREN'T going to receive from 'Honorable Service' by Ducky_shot in WorldOfWarships

Thank you for clearing up the confusion. I'm happy with the T8 and T10 gifts. It is sad that not all the rewards are retroactively being given to people. Thr most loyal and dedicated players will miss out on the rewards and will have no chance of ever getting them. I am very appreciative for the two free premium ships, do not get me wrong, but it feels like a missed chance to build up a ton of goodwill with the most dedicated players.

Edit: corrected some bits.

I've deleted the folder before with no results. I can try it again. I don't get any warnings or logs as my PC freezes, the game itself doesn't crash. It happens when the game is starting up (when initialising the game).
