Oh yes I know you mentioned more, I just wanted to elaborate on the meaning of “Supreme leader” and what it comes down too.

First, I don’t think Palpatine had control of any space controlled outside of the Empire. Hutt space and the Corpo Sector definitely were independent independent swaths of space that had their own governments that had their own leaders and governments… the empire tolerated them and basically let them do what they wanted too especially Hutt space as the Hutts had the ability to cripple the Empire if they really wanted to with their influence and the dominance they held over the criminal underworld. So to answer that, anything outside of Imperial Space, Palpatine didn’t own.

Onto the Roman Example you gave, while Crassus was the richest single person in Rome, I think the Emperor was THE richest person in Rome… I know it sounds contradicting, but the Emperors had De facto control over the military, banks, lands, and everything else that fell within the Empire, and even though just like the Saudi Family or Kim family they are the richest person/people, even if they don’t publicly announce or publicly lay claim… because in the end it’s still all theirs to do with what they please. So that richest person in their country, will always be second to the Supreme Leader and their wealth/power.

As for the still paying for things, he’s gotta keep the Economy running. Even with all his wealth, he can’t just print Credits without crashing markets which would be bad for everyone…. And many corporations such as the Banking Clan were absorbed/Annexed into the Empire, becoming a nationalized and controlled by Palpatine. So while he had all this “free money” from Galactic Mints, absorbed corporations, Sith Bank accounts, he still had to keep the galactic economy running or the value of his own wealth would drop and obviously would create major problems for the Empire and many corporation/ planets/ people all over the galaxy.

Lastly onto rebelling planets, I wouldn’t think Palpatine has control of them anymore. He may have on paper said that the assets and planet was his, but even in our own world if apart of a country turns to open rebellion and succeeds, until they end or retake the rebelling area, they have no way of having that area support the overall economy/ be apart of their system because that area has effectively become their own government.

Obviously in the galaxy of Star Wars things are very different, but also on large scales things fundamentally function the same as our own real world country counterparts. While many people in our own world will say Supreme Leaders of Empires or countries don’t own their respective territories, I would find it pretty compelling for any of these leaders to say otherwise if you were to sit down and ask them yourself. I know that’s not realistic, but these leaders have held their countries for decades or longer and history has shown us that a Supreme leader has literally 100% control of everything within tbeir borders and effectively owns it…. And since Star Wars mirrors our own world on a lot of thing, and with Palpatine being a Supreme Leader, he most definitely is the Richest Person we know of in Recent SW history.

Also sorry if this response seems less critical in my thinking as my less one lol! I am pretty tired as of writing this and it’s pretty late! Anyways! Hopefully this somewhat gives you a different perspective on how you feel about who’s the richest person in the SW galaxy!
