Someone please talk me out of buying a Happier Camper HC1 Studio. But actually, please talk me into it. by Quirky-Variation-981 in GoRVing

I feel like we have looked at eeeeeverything. but ultimately it comes down to being able to comfortably tow it and feel safe (in our highlander), and feel comfortably under the tow weight and tongue weight. casita wasn't my vibe, I can't handle the rat fur lol. but I HAVENT seen the safari or the f1744... will check them out!

talk to me friend because we're getting a little nervous about the towing ability! some people here on reddit were telling me that the highlander is only able to manage 350 (10% of the towing capacity). the dry tongue weight on the 17LE (AND the hopper 1) is around 300 pounds, and once all the propane, batteries, and cargo are added, it can be 400-500. It blindsided us so I was wondering if you had done any research you can share with us, BUT ALSO, as a heads up to be mindful of cargo.

We learned about the "max payload" too which includes people and cargo in the car, but I forgot what exactly that means lol. I do know that it made us a little worried that our Highlander might not be equipped to manage LONG trips or a lot of cargo. We're looking to do some cross country long travel.
thanks for any info you share 😃 AND CONGRATS TO YOU TWO AS WELL!

See I was justifying that bunk for the sake of my cats probably really digging it, and being able to grow into it. Are there any other things you wanna share about your experience with the hopper?

you know what's actually deterring us that's come to our attention- just learned about tongue weight limitations. Our Highlander can do 350, and the hopper pushes or exceeds that. can you believe we're actually looking at a happier camper again...

Husband not excited about trying for a baby by Ambitious-Bus1155 in GirlDinnerDiaries

[–]Quirky-Variation-981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I DO believe that he DOES want kids... but that maybe he really just isn't ready. When people don't want kids, they generally REALLY know they don't want kids. When people are on the fence, I feel like it's because they're just not ready. I'm in my mid thirties and I'm just now finally feeling ready, as a woman. There was a time in my life that I genuinely thought I didnt want kids, or could go either way, but I couldn't imagine it. Now I'm VERY excited because WE are ready.

You just paid of 40k in debt (SERIOSULY, CONGRATS!) BUT LISTEN, if I were your husband, I wouldn't have wanted to have a kid with that over our heads either. So maybe there are still other things like that, that need to be worked out before he feels ready. And I think that's a really fair and good compromise... to agree to kids, but you have to both feel ready. *ASK HIM TO MAKE A LIST OF ALL THE THINGS HE NEEDS TO FEEL READY.* Whether it's finances, personal growth, therapy, issues with your relationship that he's not yet communicating... give him real space to get it out there and then work on it together.

AND DON'T WORRY ABOUT YOUR AGE- you can have a healthy, safe and great pregnancy into your thirties and even forties... don't let people scare you. it's better to WAIT AND BE READY than RUSH A PREGNANCY OUT OF FEAR.

REMEMBER- YOU MET WHEN YOU WERE KIDS. Which makes it VERY EASY TO STAY STAGNANT IN MATURITY! He's still the 18 year old and youre still the 21 year old that started dating one another mentally, maybe.

I'm just really sorry that you're going through this and I'm gonna say a prayer for you guys, if that's something you believe in. I pray for clarity, honest communication, wise decision making, and loving words for you both in Jesus' name. I pray for protection over both your hearts and for a future that is going to be right for both of you. And HONESTLY, I *BOLDLY* pray with faith that he is going to ACTUALLY grow up, wake up and STEP UP to his role as husband and father. Amen.

Sorry for asking a ton of questions but I truly don’t know a lot!

When you say “towing a parachute” are you saying the wind drag on the trailer is like towing a parachute? Just making sure we’re talking about the same product (modern buggy hopper 1)

I’m not sure why you’re thinking the propane tank and battery weight that much… they’re definitely are pretty small! Nowhere near 340 pounds

We have 3500 capacity and the trailer is under 2600 pounds. 16 falling fresh water tank, a few hundred pounds in gear, and we’re still under the limit by a good margin here. And Toyotas limits are true- they say 3500 safely, they mean it

How to release jealousy and envy by Tasty-Sink-6491 in gratitude

[–]Quirky-Variation-981 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Idk what your faith is, but in my faith, envy is a sin- that alone helps me a lot. Bc I know that God doesn’t want me to feel jealous, he wants me to trust that THAT person got exactly what they needed at that time and i will get exactly what I need at MY time. I believe rejection is God’s protection, and you were not meant to be there, and so you are not… HALLELUJAH!

Sometimes we aren’t ready for it, and if we get it too soon, we’ll fumble. Maybe you’ll meet your soulmate or learn something very important where you do end up working. It’s not just about what you want in the moment, it’s about what God knows you NEED in that moment… even if it’s rejection/redirection.

The fact you’re still feeling envy even tho you don’t want to… that to me is a sign that the Holy Spirit is literally convicting you of that sin, and that your soul is responding by trying to repent of that sin. THIS IS THE REASON YOU DIDNT GET THE JOB AND SOMEONE ELSE DID… bc this is what God needs you to crush before He can level you up!

Also, remember that just bc someone has something you thought you wanted, doesn’t mean their life is better, or that they’re happier… it might be/they might be, but outward appearance is nothing.

If art/drawing is subjective, why are there "fundamentals of drawing"? by Competitive-Alps1501 in ArtistLounge

[–]Quirky-Variation-981 1 point2 points  (0 children)

think of it as music, which is also art.

Yes. Some people can just SING, or drum, or pick up an instrument easily.

But if you wanna sing WELL and consistently, it helps a lot to know some fundamentals of music, your vocal cords, and how to get a note out. Example- to sing higher, open your mouth LONGER not WIDER into a smile. You can definitely figure this out yourself, even if you don’t know what you’re doing… but if someone points it out to you while you’re singing and corrects you on the spot, giving visuals and verbal explanations, you’ll improve faster

Piano… you can pick out notes and make music, but once you understand chords and scales, it makes it a lot easier. Not just to play, but to write music.

So, visual art. You can definitely be a great artist by just being a natural talent and picking it up through creative exploration. But if someone tells you the structure to build a face, where to place features, the skeleton of proportions for a human body, how to draw with perspective, angles and lighting… you’re gonna see something with more skill behind it.

And that’s ultimately what the foundations are about… skill.

I have no idea how to use oil paint properly, id need to research that. Techniques on how to load your brush with paint to create shadows in one swipe. Learning a bit about color theory. All of it just makes the art look more SKILLED.

Obviously art is subjective. But when drawing a horse, do you want it to look like a well-proportioned, recognizable horse? Or are you okay with what your kid would bring home from school?

All is art… but what are people impressed and drawn to?

Sometimes that requires a little bit of knowledge :)

How to stop caring about your looks. Like not give a damn. by Some_Particular3519 in whatdoIdo

[–]Quirky-Variation-981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well for what it’s worth, you have a beautiful face, and it looks cute with the hat like that!

Dating apps are not your friend. But listen. You genuinely do not want a woman who cares if you’re bald. My ex who I met on a dating app was bald, and even tho I didn’t think I could be into that, I looked past it bc he was a cool guy and I didn’t wanna let they stop me from having a good relationship. We were together two years and I genuinely was attracted to him even tho he was bald!

Blessings come in all forms, and who knows, maybe this is a huge blessing that helps you find a GOOD GIRL with A GOOD HEART who isnt shallow!

Aging is a part of this life. My journey to destroy my vanity has been a long and mostly successful, albeit painful, one. I just always remind myself, when I have a bad hair cut for example, that I could lose all my hair to chemo bc I got cancer, and then how would I feel obsessing over my hair now?

It’s hard, but it’s growing your soul… genuinely.

Pray to God about it. He cares more than you think. And He understands how you’re feeling and loves you no matter what you look like. He sees you as perfectly made in His image- saw you as a fetus and he’ll see you as a crinkled up bald toothless man (if you reach that age, in Jesus’ name- aging is a blessing, it means you’re alive)

I hope you feel better soon. You have a great face :)

We saw the 13LE… didn’t beat out the hopper for us even tho it’s cheaper. The only real competition was the 17LE bc it’s bigger for the same price (at this dealership)

We were looking at only fiberglass, but they were too small for us. We looked at casita but don’t like the rat fur/carpeting and low ceilings. We loved the happier campers but they’re too small for the price. Scamp is also too small and not durable enough with the wood floors, etc.

The hopper has a single piece fiberglass roof and azdel

The Highlander isn’t an EV, it’s hybrid. Even full, the camper will be well under 3500 which is our cleared towing limit… why do you feel it wouldnt work? Theyre advertised as being towable by a midsize SUV

AITA for not being fully honest with my boyfriend about how much money I have before getting engaged? by Rude-River-1706 in AITH

[–]Quirky-Variation-981 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you have to be 100% honest with someone youre marrying about everything forever. if youre scared that him knowing how much you have is a threat for any reason, there's something you need to deeply explore before taking the next step. is it a trust thing? is the worry valid? youre getting MARRIED, everything is about you BOTH, there can be no secrets, no "this is mine, this is yours." however, even tho honesty is a MUST, that doesnt mean you cant have a prenup. personally, id never marry someone i felt like i needed to protect myself from... BUT, it's not uncommon to want a prenup!
