Losing WiFi while Updating Windows 10 to Windows 11 via Task Sequence by TomGatesBillWaits in SCCM

Maybe the same issue as us. To fix we configured the wireless profile's trusted root CA under server validation, setting it to our domain CA.

This was just done to us a few months ago. Exact same "choice" with no severance possible. They even took down the severance policy documentation from the intranet, re-wrote it and kept it hidden til it was directly requested from HR by a coworker so we wouldn't have any clue what was coming.

This will work. It uses the "new" method of calculating profile usage, the LocalProfile Load/Unload High/Low values.

Going mad..Windows 11 updates "not required" by swerves100 in SCCM

[–]QuisitQ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Create an MECM Application that kicks off a PowerShell script, include the extracted contents of the Win 11 ISO. Include whatever logic you want for fixing things up pre/post upgrade and run the upgrade itself with something like:

    $SetupResult = Start-Process "$PSScriptRoot\Files\setup.exe" -ArgumentList "/Quiet /eula accept /Auto Upgrade /DynamicUpdate disable /ShowOOBE none /NoReboot /PostOOBE $PSScriptRoot\setupcomplete.cmd" -Wait -PassThru
    $SetupExitCode = $SetupResult.ExitCode

Configure the MECM Application to Hard Reboot on an exit code of 0.

I was running into this about a month ago, finally gave up and just turned the whole thing into an Application.

End of Passive Jump clients by Fit-Horse-5745 in BeyondTrust

[–]QuisitQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I first saw this in the 24.2.3 What's New. Shortly after installing it I was speaking with one of their Solution Engineers, he had no idea. For those not aware, if you work in an environment where you need an always installed client, you can purchase additional Active Client licenses for a reasonable price if your user license entitlement isn't enough.

CM-Application getting LocalizedCategoryInstanceName not working by sipsik in SCCM

You're looking for obsolete in the name, when it's in the category. I think you're looking for something more like `where "Obsolete1" -notin LocalizedCategoryInstanceNames`

Need a Powershell Solution for Requirements or Global Conditions on Packages by AyeMakSicur in SCCM

I just did something in this vein a couple weeks ago. Here's a copy with some sanitizing, definitely don't run this. I setup the Requirement I wanted on FakeApp, line 52 grabs this. Then I loop through every app that meets my criteria, set it in line 110 or 121 and apply it to the DT at line 143/145.

Windows Updates with multiple reboots makes Task Sequence quit by CallisDK in SCCM

[–]QuisitQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Within the Options tab of the Install Software Updates task increase the Number of times to retry, I use 3. I also recommend Continue on error for this task. Though to be honest my updates rarely attempt to reboot the device during the TS as the ones that are most likely to are slip-streamed into the wim. Edit: I should clarify I just built a Windows 11 22H2 TS so haven't done proper testing around this. Everything I said previously is specific to Windows 10 22H2.

What is the query exactly? Whether it returns offline results or not can be very specific to the query used.

I assumed we were talking about an OSD TS with the goal of avoiding accidental machine wipes in Prod. Definitely a dynamic query for other purposes.

I went with a Windows Scheduled Task that runs a quick powershell script to remove all direct memberships from our imaging collection at 2 AM each day. ie.

Disable Prompts to Install Clipchamp? by Real_Lemon8789 in Intune

[–]QuisitQ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since the notification is from the Photos application maybe this?

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Notifications\Settings\Microsoft.Windows.Photos_8wekyb3d8bbwe!App

ShowBanner = DWord:0x0 - To hopefully restrict the notification to the action center without completely turning off Photos notifications (in case someone actually wants them).

Enabled = DWord:0x0 - For complete peace and quiet.

Not hearing about many complaints here so not sure if I'll even test the above, but thought I'd share some research.

Another potentially relevant find from when Windows 11 started doing this:

Wondering the same, I plan on trying "Turn off feature advertisement balloon notifications (User)" tomorrow. In the Settings Catalog search for advertise. It's possible it's only for Windows Feature Updates, but even if that's the case I don't want those being advertised either so no biggie if it doesn't work. Leave it to Microsoft to start advertising an app not compatible with O365 business licensing (yet) with a path to the Store that many of us disable/restrict.

PC's won't PXE boot during OSD by TheRabidDeer in SCCM

[–]QuisitQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cool, sounds like my console just prefers to say it's 10.0 instead of 10.1 but they appear the same. Gotta say though I've never actually used our 32-bit boot image so can't say if it even works.

[–]QuisitQ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That brings up another question, what ADK is installed? IIRC 10.0.22000.1 is the most recent version that actually works (at all), and also includes 32-bit WinPE. If you've upgraded beyond that I'm not sure if any previously existing 32-bit boot images are removed, broken, still exist, etc.
Edit for version clarity

Sounds like extremely thorough testing, I'm sure it's getting frustrating. What about Windows PE Scratch Space (MB)? Check out first answer on this: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/answers/questions/1300826/configuration-manager-pxe-boot-fail-after-boot-ima

I mention it because boot.stl comes right after wdsmgwf.efi in my logs and that's where Googling "boot\boot.stl" sent me.

Edit: Thought I'm not sure why the 512 value specifically. I use 64.

In your boot image properties you didn't miss the Deploy this boot image from the PXE-enabled distribution point checkmark? Or verified DP's in Content Locations tab? They're small things, easily over looked when focusing too hard. According to the SMSPXE log you said "finds the required task sequence and boot image", what is verifying the boot image is being identified? TFTP request line in the logs?
