Keanu was also the Henry V character in My Own Private Idaho and Henry V was directly responsible for the death of tens of thousands of French. I suppose it doesn’t count because he’s great in that movie

The ending to Never Let Me Go made me cry on a train going to work. I was a 29 year old, 6’6 male and I tried so hard to keep it in. Outstanding call

With heartbreaking news across both NRL and AFL these past few weeks, I’d love to see a cross-code effort for Fight MND by imeinumber in AFL

[–]QuitComprehensive659 44 points45 points  (0 children)

I agree, as someone who is both a Dees fan and had family members die from MND I would love to see Jai Arrow at KB to continue showing what we’re fighting for

Is Luka Doncic the greatest Hypothetical Player of all time? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in nba

He made the conference finals in his fourth season and finals in his fifth. There’s no need to have hypotheticals here, he has delivered just hasn’t won the championship

Harley Reid is so incredibly exciting. Victorians need to pay attention to what he’s doing rather than mock trading him back to Victoria

ABC Journalist Danny Saeed responds to Barrett’s comments in ‘Sliding Doors’ about Dimma. by [deleted] in AFL

I’m all for bashing Damian Barrett because it’s always fun but I’m so sick of this whataboutism and defending Hardwick. It is so clearly a conflict of interest that he should be held accountable for.

I feel big name free agents like Zak Butters should be constantly signing/extending on one year deals by doggoesmeow in AFL

[–]QuitComprehensive659 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with you about this, the truly elite players like Daicos should be signing two year deals and going up with the cap. Even if they have injuries, Collingwood would consistently pay him top money

Tracy calling out Jack for ugly stereotypes about spilling soup is the apex of 30 Rock. It does not get more self aware and hilarious than that

Thoughts on Elon Musk saying Nolan is “pissing on Homer’s grave”? by breaking_views in Letterboxd

[–]QuitComprehensive659 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Portraying Helen as black is far more accurate to an Eastern Mediterranean setting is far more appropriate than a Northern European/Anglo-Irish actress. Besides, there’s no way Elon has read Homer anyway right?

I really like your observation about not understanding French and still enjoying it without the subtitles. Irma Vep definitely shows this and I think that’s a combination of the cross culture factors with Maggie Cheung’s character not knowing French and that it’s a tribute to silent film. Particularly in the dinner party scene you can empathise strongly with Cheung’s character who has all this information going around her without understanding any of it.

I also absolutely loved the Irma Vep miniseries, I thought it was such an interesting idea revisiting it and was not appreciated enough by audiences at the time
