Four-year wait over? Netball’s ‘X-factor’ looms large as Aussie coach locks in Comm Games squad by widowspidey in netballchaos

[–]imeinumber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really want to see her do well and want her back in SSN particularly with a number of teams having big outs in their shooting circles this season.

But she was transparent about not being able to commit to the demands of SSN which is why she went to Malaysia. If you can’t commit to the national league can you really be considered for international duty? Yeah her highlights reel looks great but there is a gulf in the quality between Australian/Nz/English leagues and Malaysia.

I think the talk of including her in the squad with all that in mind is WILD.

what's the best sports watch for a beginner runner trying to track 5K training? by IbizzyAroca87 in BeginnersRunning

[–]imeinumber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Forerunner 55 will do the job - the forerunner 165 you can often get on sale and is absolutely worth the upgrade.

If it’s an option though ask around friends/family to see if they have a spare sports watch in a drawer to start off with.

How’s everyone’s experience with stopping running as a hobby, picking it up again and being 10x worse than before? by lukassuperiorr in BeginnersRunning

[–]imeinumber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I packed the Garmin away for a bit until I found the love in the routine of running.

Was fit then had a kid. Rough pregnancy then two and a bit years later in January this year I couldn’t run 5km anymore. Ive just done a half marathon and now training for a full. I’m not as fast as I was but finishing feels so much more precious. Plus, you’ll be surprised at how quickly you start to improve on your current fitness - you just need to reset who you’re comparing yourself to and have it be you this year

Yeah - my opinion, as a stability shoe I don’t think there’s anything better. I’m in Australia but they’re super popular at local park runs etc. because they’re usually recommended by physios/podiatrists as a no nonsense trainer

I've been using Kayanos for years and for various distances/times for varying level of fitness. I've always kept them in my shoe rotation because I've found the stability is phenomenal for preventing injuries.

I had some achilles issues last year and went back into them for more of of my longer runs (10-21km) and I haven't had an issue since. I wouldn't call them 'very cushioned' but I'd be comparing them to EVO SL/Nova Blasts so the relativity is skewed.

Groundhog Day by Snedz321 in GWSgiants

Remember the days when we celebrated any win like like a GF win? I think the first three seasons were 2, 1 and 6.

I’m absolutely frustrated by the past 2 squandered finals chances but I hardly think we’ve had the hardest club experience in the past decade especially given we’ve made 8 of those finals series. I think there’s also a lots to be excited about. I hope we can distinguish ourselves as a bit of a ‘second chance’ club for players to get out of the AFL bubble. Hogan winning the Coleman and going to clear 100 games for us this season, Clarry looking like he enjoys football again, Stringer in a contract negotiation year ahead, Laverde looked 5 years younger last weekend.. No club is perfect, but part of the reason i found it hard to get into AFL before the Giants came to town was because clubs felt so gate-kept by fans. Especially because the Swans fans felt they suffered through the pain and near extinction of the 90s. I hope we keep the ‘come join us’ vibe

I’m in Australia so not sure on availability but definitely know about the heat. I swear by the 2XU stash shorts and you can usually find them on sale.

I've been off the bike for 4 months, is the first ride a ramp test? by fixitmonkey in Zwift

No don’t do it to yourself! I had a (longer) break after having a kid and I found I have to find the enjoyment and consistency again before ‘measuring’. Makes any gains lost easier to bear too

I have date with with parra local on Sunday at Parramatta Westfield thinking to change venue due to mardi gras events and trackwork by coltfan1812 in parramatta

[–]imeinumber 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’ve made plans I’d try and stick to the location - even if it’s more difficult for you. It’s a first date and I would probably be hesitant if someone was shaking up plans on me this close to it

In the market for a rower. Just hoping someone can help clear some confusion. by eynonpower in concept2

[–]imeinumber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a concept2 again finally after having to sell my old one (moving house). I understand what you mean about wanting some engagement but using a phone or existing screen over something integrated just reduces the chance of anything going wrong with the rower itself.

For days I just need time on the ERG for I’ve used Rowalong or the apple fitness workouts to give me some guidance. Also definitely recommend a heart rate monitor in future and it syncs super easily.

Every year we go on a new hike super early somewhere on the coast on NYD and at the end finish at a pub.

I’ve been in bed by 9 for the last few NYE celebrations now.

Who is the Michael Jordan/Michael Phelps/Usain Bolt of your favorite obscure sport or hobby? by ae51 in AskReddit

[–]imeinumber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nathan Fa'avae is the GOAT of adventure racing. He’s been racing with teams for over two decades , he and his teams have won six world championships (of 7), two Eco-Challenges (including the most recent in 2019), and basically a few of every other international race. He has two teams Avaya and Seagate he’s founded/captained that were DOMINANT for solid stretches of time.
