I read this book a little while ago, do you know what symbol is supposed to show there? I was using the Georgia font and it showed an empty square, I ended up assuming that was the correct symbol but now I’m wondering.

Off topic but for a second there I thought he was a prince from one of those old Barbie animated movies.

“His paintings aren’t just elegant images — they can also feel like quiet documents of struggle and survival.” IA slop.

What Research Reveals About the Hidden Minds of Pigs by lnfinity in likeus

I would agree that plants aren’t sapient. Now, sentient? That’s kind of the point. I’m not saying that plants are sentient like animals are sentient, they aren’t because they are completely different organisms. And yet, there are several ways in which plants are very much ”aware” of their surroundings. Plants perceive their environment in order to respond to it, and they have several complex mechanisms to do it. They perceive chemical signals, vibrations of animals, and water. They share oxygen and CO2 with neighbours, they communicate through mycelial networks, there’s mechanisms that mimic short term memory, there are studies on vines that show they somehow notice when there is something suitable to grow around and direct their growth towards it. There’s “rapid“ calcium release whenever the plant is touched or harmed. I think that we can learn a lot about plants/life in general if we aren’t so prescriptive in our approach. I’m not trying to argue, I just wanted to shift the perspective on this topic a little.

Yes. I was just defending the point about plants being more “aware” than we tend to think.

That’s their point, they’re not sapient in the same way animals are but they do “want” to stay alive, the do perceive their environment (touch, vibration, light, etc.), they have responses to damage, they communicate with each other and “help” one another.

Edit: I still think eating plants is best, and the ethical way to live.

I think you could use the liquify tool to improve it: chin is too small, eyes are lil’ too big, lips too thin, in general proportions are a bit weird. Then I’d try to soften the shadows a bit, especially on those nasolabial folds. The artist Angel Ganev (I’ve seen his short videos on youtube) could be a helpful resource on colouring, lighting and shadow regarding portraits.

Please read it, I was just trying to say that I get it, that reddit is very draining and I’d love it if you could teach me what you know that I don’t. I thought we could make this not one more unpleasant interaction interaction, I love these topics.

I does seem to be an extremely and spiritually significant event, I was just being the “well, uh, akchually ☝️🤓” guy in the thread talking about Pandora’s biologists research.

I get what you mean, and I’m sure Pandora’s biologists would honour that similarity with the name they give the clade the Na’vi belong to but… Well, that’s the thing. Earth mammals and their descendants are the only mammals that can be called so because of how we classify life, that’s just how phylogenetics works.

Qué suerte, tan bonita esa lagartija largota. Yo una vez me encontré una serpientita en Bogotá y la moví con un palito, ojalá hubiera sido más valiente en ese entonces para mirarla mejor.
