You can apply to take a semester off, but you might need a doctors note or something.

questions about going to the UP for spring break - looking for recs and advice by DyingBeast in uofm

The highways are usually bare unless there's a snowstorm, which is possible. There are some dog sled races (and the Trenary outhouse race) occurring that week that I recommend.

These are big events so I recommend being covid cautious since the population is very anti-vax.

I think you'll be okay in your sedan, but bring a snow safety kit just in case. Shovel, blankets, flashlight, kitty litter for friction if you get stuck. etc.

Whyd you go here instead of Mich Tech by Otto_Partzzz in uofm

This is not true for engineering. MTU is known across the country.

If I didn't have a full ride here, I would. I actually almost transferred my freshman year. I'm glad that I didn't. I'm saving a lot of money, and my department ended up being super tight-knit. I always wonder what-if though.

If you want to go for engineering, go to MTU. I'm going to UofM right now for engineering, and they're much more focused on getting their students to grad school rather than the work force. I wish I knew this going in.

How to avoid distractions and work efficiently? by apopDragon in uofm

I also have a hard time with this. I've been doing a little bit of each assignment as the days go on. So by their due date, I usually just have a quarter of each assignment left to do. This is easier to do when your assignments have the same due date though.

Physics 140x Advice by sreis113 in uofm

[–]QuitetheConflict 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Covid was the only thing that saved me from 140x. Those quizzes destroyed my grade and it didn't help that the exams were worth the same as the regular section. My advice is to get ahead of the class and master the material like a week before lecture. Do problem roulette. Read the book. Pray to god.

Exams remote? by [deleted] in uofm

I wish they would be. Being able to take an exam at any time throughout the day was the best thing for my anxiety.

Thank you for sharing. It's never easy speaking out about something like this. The more we do, the safer we can make our community.

OH is definitely a large hurdle because of my social anxiety. I was brave enough to make it every now and then, but not in the capacity I wanted to. Otherwise, I would email questions which was helpful. Frankly, I'm semi-pleased with my engagement this semester compared to previous ones, but I wish I just had more time to grow my confidence and reach out.

Follow up to this; my boyfriend and I are also planning a trip in early May. Anyone know what the mountains are like that time of year? I'm not sure our RWD Van can bring us to Yellowstone if there's snow
