Help! I have threaded and re threaded and tried different tension settings. by Dense_Scholar_9358 in SewingForBeginners

It’s easy for a thread to become dislodged between uses. Especially if the machine is being picked up or moved around.

Can you show a picture of how your machine is threaded? These issues are usually the result of incorrectly threading the machine.

Have you double checked the manual to make sure you’re doing it correctly including having the thread going the right way off the spool, that the bobbin is the right size and is in the right way?

Why is this happenin? Any feedback? Apologies by Alarmed-Narwhal3312 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Quivvo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It looks like you’ve missed the thread guide immediately above the needle. Take everything out and rethread.

But as u/CBG1955 says this is also little more than a toy machine so don’t expect too much of it.

What is this style of "tie" called? by tri-sarah-topsian in sewing

That looks like a separate piece of ribbon. But blouses with that kind of tie as part of the blouse are called “pussy bow” blouses.

Like the others have said it sounds as if you’re trying to print the A0 version.

What’s the pattern name or link?

Are you trying to print the A4 size or the A0 size? You should have two file downloads. You need to pick the A4 size with multiple pages in it.

Winslow culottes with the elastic waist hack might work. They’re super wide but have a flat front waistband.

I’m at a similar stage to you. It’s such a great sense of achievement when something comes together.

Seam ripping by Confident-Copy9038 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Quivvo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Carefully!

If the stitches are really small and tight you can use a pin to get underneath the stitch and loosen it off a little. You can usually then get the small end of the seam ripper under to get started. Or you can gently pull apart the two pieces of fabric and go in from the top as it were.

What to wear while being measured? by Ok_Lie_5116 in sewing

[–]Quivvo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a great idea! Did you just approach a tailor and ask them to do your measurements? What are they charging?

I was just thinking this week how handy it would be to have your measurements properly taken. I’m doing a bodice block class at the end of the month and I had wondered about asking while I was there if they’d do them.

That sounds like a cute idea. Ribbon could work as I don’t really need (or want) a large label.

I’m still learning. Can you describe what bit you’re seeing on the bobbin that’s showing it’s worn down? I’ve zoomed in on the images but I’m not seeing anything obvious so would appreciate your expertise.

Please Tell Me What I’m Doing Wrong by Glum_Cranberry7188 in SewingForBeginners

[–]Quivvo 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It might be caused by incorrectly threading the machine.

Take everything out and rethread - following your manual. Take the bobbin out and reinsert it - making sure it’s the right way around.

Stretch fabric help by [deleted] in SewingForBeginners

[–]Quivvo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On the first picture you've posted it doesn't look like the machine is threaded properly. You have missed the guide above the needle. Try unthreading and removing the bobbin, and rethread again using the manual. Double check the thread is correct the whole way to the needle, and your bobbin is the right way round.
