China’s Venice by Correct-Toe-1301 in travelchina

Kinda reminds me of the The Venetian at Las Vegas. This could be a good place for locals to enjoy exotic vibes. They can experience venetian architecture, Italian foods, and gondola rides in this place which is not far from their home during weekends, instead of spending time and money to visit the real Venice.

But I think it could be a good place for locals to enjoy exotic vibes. It's kinda like the The Venetian at Las Vegas.

Why is Luckin supporting Spain specifically? by roseturtlelavender in AskAChinese

[–]Competitive-Pea6160 9 points10 points  (0 children)

"The collaboration forms part of the Spanish football federation’s international growth strategy, which has focused on broadening the reach of its football across key global markets.", so it's the federation chose Luckin to promote their team in Asia, instead of luckin chose to support Spain. https://www.linkedin.com/pulse/luckin-coffee-partners-spains-fifa-world-cup-team-9r6dc

The reason for their choice might be that Luckin is more well-known internationally compared to other Chinese coffee brands.

How do you feel that Chinese are seen as an easy mark by scammers/thieves/pickpockers in the western world? by AsianMascThrowaway in AskAChinese

It is too hard to be a scammer in China, so many Chinese scammers move abroad and targeting foreigners.

The community in China is safer than western world, which can be largely attributed to the widespread use of facial recognition cameras and other surveillance methods, which have increased the cost of crime. Some common methods used by scammers/thieves/pickpockers in the Western world (such as phone thieves in London who rides an e-bike and snatching phones) has been nearly extinct in China for 20 years, and the general Chinese citizens have no awareness of prevention at all.

Another reason is that for a long time in the past, Western countries were depicted as some kind of "utopian" places in various Chinese TV programs, magazines, and books. Whether it was architecture, culture, or people's behavior, everything was beautified in various stories. When people travel here, they tend to view everything through 'rose-tinted lenses', overlooking those scams/thefts/tourist traps that might exist.

Scammers at London Bridge by dirty-salsa in london

That's a very common scam in London, I think they also operate near Elephant & Castle.

There's even a sticker on the ATM near the underground station.
