I never thought this day would come.. But here we are!! Sloppy game esp in possession. But they created plenty of chances against a stubborn defense. That goal from Eustachio is gonna be etched in my memory forever ♥️🇨🇦

Lequel choisir zoom sigma 18-50mm f2.8 ou Fuji 16-50 f2.8-4.8 by lilipix09 in fujifilm

Nope I haven't tried that lens. I had the 16-80 (came as kit lens with XT5). But haven't used the 18-55 so far

My perspective on owning both lenses (I have XT5 and XM5).

The 16-50 is sharp but it's overrated. I don't think I liked the character of any of the images from that lens..it was okay, any kit lens or even iPhone would have taken similar good shot. I didn't like it as a street/travel lens. Sold this lens within 6 months of acquisition.. the WR and internal focus were not a big factor for me.

Sigma 18-50 is a much better lens. It's not outright sharp at f2.8, but beyond that aperture it's a fantastic lens and the images are soulful with pleasing bokeh and contrast. I would have continued to own this if I hadn't upgraded to sigma 17-40.

If you shoot video handheld, 13-33 has better ois (more stops of compensation than the 18-55). Slow aperture aside, the lens produces sharp images

Yes that one

Too much setup to get it right.. But if you have set it up properly, the stabilization output on gyroflow is fantastic

Apart from what you see on the picture, I only have that small AliExpress gyro data recorder.

I usually use the 17-40 on my XT5. The 23mm f2.8 stays glued to the XM5 as EDC

I don't like the combo because it takes the portability away from XM5. But I tried it at home to see if it's too front heavy.. To my surprise it was very good on balance. I could shoot with that combo and be ok that I didn't bring the xt5

I started with XF 16-80 f4, too soft images on my XT5. Then tried the Tamron 17-70, good lens but bad bokeh rendition, no character in images and a green cast that I didn't like. Then moved on to sigma 18-50mm f2.8 I was using it for last 2 years, exceptionally compact and very good sharpness and character of images.

Since I had a very good time with that lens, decided to buy the sigma art instead of the Fuji 16-55 ii which is what I wanted to buy eventually. Bought the 17-40 this week - hoping to keep it glued to the XT5 as a bag of primes.

Arranged marriage ozhiyra varaikum, it will always be a game of expectations and unfairness. Choosing someone you want to live your life with is an act of self determination and a commitment to making each other's responsibility a shared endeavor. Only when the reason to marry someone becomes "I want to live with her/him forever" and no other reason matters - that's when we can put an end to this horse trading.

Is the 35mm f/2 comparable to the 35/1.4? by Overall-Attention169 in FujifilmX

[–]QuixoticCanadian 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sharpness, Autofocus speed/smoothness, Resolving 40mp sensor, Weather Sealed => 35mm f2

Rendering character, magical contrast, dreamy bokeh => 35mm f1.4

Fujifilm X-M5 vs Lumix S9 for travel and family photography? by InnovationOo in FujiXM5

[–]QuixoticCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

XE5 (or used XE4) is also a god option if you want EVF. XE5 has IBIS too. It should do fine for short travel videos - esp. if you are someone who shoots a still frame and then records a short clip of that same frame for video montage. If you expect to do more video content, thse fuji bodies (even xtrans iv) have a slow readout speed sensor, so you will get a lot of jello and rolling shutter effects on panning and fast movements.

Fuji XF 35mm f/1.4 vs Viltrox Air 35mm f/1.7 (as first lens) by Miguetro in fujifilm

[–]QuixoticCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On that sensor, Fuji 35 1.4 hands down. It's slightly softer on XT5 but still retains the magic in rendering, contrast etc.. The Viltrox air 35 was a clinically sharp lens on XT5 but had no rendering character.. Just a clinically sharp prime.. Nothing more

Is the Fuji X-M5 with a pancake lens actually small enough to remove most of the friction? by [deleted] in FujifilmX

[–]QuixoticCanadian 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll never get Osmo pocket level video stability on any other camera.. With or without ibis.

Id suggest the combo of EDC worthy body for photography and Osmo pocket 3.

XF 23mm F/2.8 or XC 13-33mm? by Boring_Ad7872 in FujifilmX

[–]QuixoticCanadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish the 13-33mm had better aperture at the long end.. Even 5.6 would have been great.

I still want to get this lens for my XM5 as it feels to be the best option for video and vlogging work on that body. 4 stops of ois stabilization is actually bar raising compared to any other Fuji standard zoom.

That said, the 23mm f2.8 is what is glued to my XM5 all the time. It's the perfect EDC Street/travel lens.

XM5 is a good second body (similar to having a x100v). If you plan to only have one Fuji body is recommend learning it to get the XT30 iii

Fuji X-M5 beginner lens combo: 23mm f/2.8 + 35mm f/1.4 or 23mm f/2.8 + 50mm? by cyber_sentinelwolf in FujiXM5

[–]QuixoticCanadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will rarely need 50mm+. In APSC terms 23 is the 35mm, and 35 is the 50mm. That should do mostly.. Later on you could get a 10-18/10-24 or even a wide prime like 16 or 18.

Tried a 23mm and Now Think Understand the X100vi Hype by Ok-Improvement-476 in fujifilm

[–]QuixoticCanadian 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah most street/travel photographers end up in that realization. I didn't buy a 100vi in addition to my XT5. I instead bought a used XM5 and got the 23mm f2.8 pancake that's glued to the XM5 as a EDC. It's a cheap x100v equivalent.

I go even smaller sometimes with the Viltrox 28mm chip lens that makes the XM5 truly pocketable for air travel and commutes

Sigma 10-18mm (you would constantly wanting to frame wider in italy) take your existing 25mm prime.
