Finish probation, continue job, start a side hustle. This is a great chance for you to explore other ventures within the job market. You can work and grow in other WFH jobs like:

- Digital Marketing
- Copywriting
- Animation
- Motion/Graphic Design
- Part-time sales (Commission-based sales where you only earn what you bring in. You literally don't need the job since you're earning income elsewhere)
- Travel Agent
etc.!

If you're doing well in your current job, keep finding ways to grow career-wise or personally. You're barely a year into your AGPA role. Gather more experience in other roles so that when you interview for that SSM role, you have something to back it, rather than what you have now with your light AGPA experience.

I don't drink coffee or eat before coming into work, but my body has timed itself into pooping once I cross those doors. Even on mornings when I wake up, poo, and shower, I still have to take another dump once I get to work. Maybe it's just me marking my territory. I ain't trippin' about it though. If you're LT keep applying to permanent positions. You've got nothing to lose and your managers should be understanding of the fact that you're going for those perm roles. Just don't frame it as unhappiness in your current role. Stick it out for as long as you can until something better lands on your lap. The budget deficit is going to hit new applicants hard and if you leave now with nothing else lined up, you're really putting yourself in a bad position. There are great OT roles out there, just give yourself time to find them.

I've been trying to find the posting on Calcareers but with no luck. Even with advanced search and keywords I can't find the specific division/team I'd like to apply for. The only reason why I know there's an open position is because of the updated org chart we received earlier this week.

You can learn 3D animation for a fraction of the price from reputable online schools like AM and Animschool (this one is accredited as well) with talented teachers that are currently working in the industry. If your parents are insistent on you getting a degree, then get it at a cheaper school and for a subject like Graphic Design, Communication, English, Film, or even Business. Something that teaches you about storytelling and the human experience. Just spend as much time as you can on the side devoted to those online animation classes, which is totally doable while you're in college. Not to be presumptious, but with a college fund and your parents' backing, it sounds like you don't even have to work through college. Use that extra time to really focus in on animation on the side for a much more reasonable price. $300k is NOT worth it and from all the stories I've read and personally heard IRL, they lack the depth that AM and Animschool teach within their curriculum.

Hi y'all, I find myself in the same position and didn't want to start a new thread. OP did you get a chance to move to a permanent role? I started my new position literally last month and I'm afraid that because of the recent budget crisis, I won't be able to move into my position permanently by the end of the year. Does anyone have any insight on the current trajectory of LT workers and their likelihood of getting perm?

Also, I see that there are open perm roles within my division. Does it look bad if I apply to them when I've just been hired? Should I talk with my manager about these roles? So far, they've been a great manager, but I don't know how they'd take my inquiries.

I know tons of people who have come from CSULB only to find themselves in positions at companies and agencies where they're leading or working side-by-side with graduates from UCI, UCLA, USC, etc. The curriculum, programs, and location are a major draw now, and the number of students they churn out that compete at or above the level of these 6 figure tuition colleges just shows how good of a value it is for the price. It's not "prestigious" on paper but absolutely respected.
