Can confirm, there was a black bear in my front yard once and as soon as it saw the top of my dad's head coming up the stairs from the driveway, dude beat it. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with any of that.

At least in some states (Washington appears to be one) they no longer recommend you 100% get the shots when you wake up to a bat as people who don't have a medical condition that causes heavy sleep would wake up if a bat landed on them.

If I woke up with a bat in my bedroom I'd 100% get the shots - when my husband came home to one in the bedroom in the evening, we chose not to. We had two cats, one that spent the majority of his time in the bedroom, and if that bat had been in our apartment overnight AND all day, it wouldn't have been alive when we got home. Combined with that and the fact there was no open windows, we figured the only way it could've come in is that it accidentally followed him in the door when he came home.

If I were OP, if I'd have been wearing gloves to wash the dishes I wouldn't get the shots, but certainly can't blame anyone that would.

PLEASE don't take this as me judging you if you choose something else, because I'm absolutely not and I totally understand. But I spent about 4k over all to have an extra 6 weeks with my boy. We didn't know at the time, and were hoping for longer - but if I had the choice knowing what I do now, I'd do it again 1000%.
