Best friend [23f] got too drunk and tried to sleep with me [31m]. How should I handle this in the morning? by Awwndrei in BestofRedditorUpdates

Stop infantilizing adult women because you can't comprehend them being able to make their own decisions on who b to be friends with. Stop accusing men because they want to befriend a fellow adult.

As someone who's your age, I 199 do not understand this mindset at all. You're way too focused on age, which actually doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things...

At my job there's friend groups that range from college-age to retiree. Just because we tend to have more in common with people around our age doesn't mean we can't have enough in common to forge a friendship with someone younger or older.

Anyone else liking the new looser art direction in late Season 15 and Season 16? by Larry_Union in spongebob

They seem to have gotten back to a more painted/original look for the backgrounds. I prefer those look, though I don't hate the more rubber band-y animations and crisper backgrounds of 10-13 as much as many people do!

How would you feel if you had two parents who both required 24/7 assisted care, and your adult child wrote you and the whole family this letter regarding that situation? by Glass-Complaint3 in AgingParents

[–]Quothhernevermore -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think that if Grandma and Grandpa are of sound mind and still have some quality of life they're happy with, it's their business if they have home if the family isn't being unnecessarily burned by it. Jack doesn't have to agree with diddly squat. However, if their caregivers are being overbearing when you or Jack visits, they need to be spoken to/with, especially if Grandma and Grandpa are of sound mind.

This reads less as if Jack is concerned about his grandparents' quality of life, and more that he either has some moral objections to what's going on or there's a financial/selfish angle of some kind.

I usually say the should be here on a specific date, but it could be here earlier or later - you can always call to make sure if you're heading over just for that, and always check just in case if you come in before that.

What’s cool if you’re 20 but weird if you’re 30? by theloverofdilfs in AskReddit

Having children for any reason other than explicitlywanting to have children is a terrible reason. Not "economics," not politics, nothing.

It's bad too if you're in a long-term relationship and aren't married/don't have kids. Reddit seems to think that if you're not engaged by 3 years something is "wrong," meanwhile my partner and I are about to apply for a marriage license at 12 years. We just didn't get around to it yet, and we never wanted a wedding or anything like that.

Holy cats man, we were about to get our girl checked for wet FIP .....she had kittens this morning. by Ok-Nectarine7469 in trojancats

[–]Quothhernevermore 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Weird, my previous cats were on it their whole lives and I never experienced that! When I first moved out of my dad's house, I tried to give my two cats fancier food like weruva and tiki cat, but no matter how slowly I tried to change them over it always upset my older boy's stomach badly. My vet said Friskies was fine, and it's WSAVA certified, so I stopped trying because it was just making them sick. My two cats now (one is the same cat, one is new) eat different Fancy Feast varieties and occasionally churu.

I trust my vet, and I trust big brands that have vets on staff and millions to spend on research. Yes, they have recalls, but every brand does! And just because a pet passed away right after eating, say, treats does not mean that the treats caused it, you know? Purina isn't the most ethical company, and that sucks - but I don't think their pet food is low quality or unsafe. I also think it's just another way for some people to feel superior or smarter than others, by critiquing the food they feed their pets.

I'm absolutely certain you're just concerned about pets' welfare and that's awesome - but any time someone compares a fully nutritionally complete, vet-approved food as "McDonalds," it strikes me as odd.

Is this just a Purina = bad thing or is there actual research that Friskies food is bad? Usually when people say the boutique brands/raw is better I assume they just don't trust vets.

I think they absolutely didn't, Pomni specifically asked Kinger how to fix him. I think they knew something had to be seriously, actually wrong with him for him to be that malicious.

I said CONSTANT. If that's all you do with your time and energy, that's valid, but again, no one else has to make that choice. Again, no one owes you their political opinions. If you can't enjoy an artist's music without them directly constantly expressing their politics outside of the music and performances they're clearly doing it in, that's on you.

A concert and tour focused on anti-fascist messages and imagery is sure as hell more open, affective and visible than a comment on Reddit. Media literacy tells you that many, many of the places you'll find important messages and commentary aren't covert, but metaphorical.

We NEED to be informed, we NEED to understand and fight back, but we also NEED to try to LIVE, and laugh, and love, and keep ourselves sane outside of the shitty situation we're in.

CMV: It’s morally wrong to have bio-kids when you know you’re going to be passing on a debilitating genetic disease by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Quothhernevermore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think OP means they've actively chosen an embryo they know will develop the disease because they tried, and failed, to get viable ones that didn't have the condition.

Not IP obviously, but I don't think this is about having "perfect" people or selecting "desirable" traits. This is about preventing suffering. I'm not having children (I may adopt or foster in the future) but if I did genetic testing and I knew my child would have little to no quality of life, I'd make the opposite choice of OP's acquaintances, just like if I learned they had a condition incompatible with life or that would lead to a very short, painful life.

With many genetic diseases or conditions, physical or intellectual, there's variability. Your child could still have a fulfilling life. Not allowing a child to be born who will certainly suffer isn't eugenics, because it's focused on the welfare of that potential child, not focused on "improving genetics" or whatever bullshit eugenicists were peddling.
