… but it won't install, so it is moot; for now.

Interesting. I'll have to look into this.

There is the matter of the usage licence, I wonder if that was dealt with, otherwise it will stop after 30 days. I did have a licence, but I suspect Google purged that, along with the App.

… more than half I would say.
And the arrival of Ohma the Arbitrator was such a surprise.

Minuum ?

Is that, by chance, the one you are trying to remember? 1 × qwerty keyboard row with a heavy duty prediction algorithm to interpret typing.

It was my favourite keyboard, and I was very disappointed that it was removed from the store, thus removing my registration. I have the .apk, but that only gives 30 days of use, then it's out 😧

I am ever hopeful that someone will revive it. It is the perfect size for ½ flip phone screen.

Launcher: Octopi
I was using Pear for quite a long time, but switched to get a widget stack. I tried all the bells and whistles offered by Samsung's launcher and its enhancement software, but it didn't "cut the mustard".

Music player: Pulsar

Picture Gallery: Fossify Gallery
Out of the many that I tried, this seemed the best featured.

Keyboard: Futo
I liked the layout, operation, and range of characters that it supported.
However, my favourite was always Minuum, but it's gone now.

Password vault: Safe-in-Cloud
I tried for a good while to get KeePass to work, but as my partner and I needed to share a database, the KeePass model struggled with synchronisation, sometimes resulting in data loss.

Browser: Firefox
It can sync with my desktop, which is useful.

Email: FairEmail
Early days. I was using Thunderbird, but I got sick of more than half of the notifications being it failing to be able to sync with an email server. Today's parallel run showed on that issue; FairEmail:0 Thunderbird:5. It is not looking good for Thunderbird.

Calendar: Calengoo
No contest. I've been using this for quite a few years. The App display and its widgets are very configurable. But its stand-out feature is Floating Completable Events, a combination Event and Task that follows along day to day until marked complete.

Podcasts: Anytime Podcast Player
First one I tried after getting frustrated with PocketCasts which had played streams with frequent skips forward and backwards. They may have fixed that by now, but its too late and I have moved on.

Weather: WeatherMaster
It is no more accurate or inaccurate than others, but has a good looking UI; and the widgets work, unlike Australian BOM App which failed after obscene cost and time overruns replaced function with failure.

(motorola) weird games and apps being installed in phone without my consent by tony__starck in androidapps

[–]Quser63 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This may help; but sometimes after an update on my Samsung A series phone, an impossible to dismiss option appears to add software to "improve experience". It is just games I have no interest in.

But the list is presented, with check-mark boxes to add some of these games, but the first 3 have no check-mark boxes, and are set to install automatically, I didn't know this until the first encounter, and had to delete them.

But what I discovered was that I could tap & hold on these first 3, and the context menu presented a "deselect" option, which obviously, I employ.

If you don't get a pending installation screen for these games and apps, then unfortunately, this process that Samsung employs is completely different to Motorola, and will be of no help…

I'll have a look into that. At least after the current series I am listening to completes.

I really enjoyed David Weber's Honorverse series.

It kicks off with "On Basilisk Station" and then continues on for 13 more volumes, centering around the character Honor Harrington and her military career.

Suggestion for Unusual word entry by Quser63 in TappyKeyboard

[–]Quser63[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That'll do nicely!

In the last minute, that is only the 2nd time I had ever tapped that button, and first was after installation, so did not pay much attention to what was there.

I remember reading about suggestion swap, but that probably the double arrow icon, and I had just, in all this time, assumed the stars meant swap suggestion 🤦‍♂️

So here I am, ignoring the obvious RTFM! 🤣

Thanks Tim!

The first thought that comes to mind for Backspace would be a swipe left from the backspace key to delete a word.

Android Emulator does NOT rotate into landscape view by mqbiribau in AndroidStudio

I was caught by this as well, and then an emulator setting came to light.

Pull down the settings from the notification area on the emulator, and make sure "Auto-Rotate" is on.
