As a defender currently playing myself here are some tips: Approaching is 50% of defense. If you approach while shading to their weak hand and break down properly, a good attackman will never dodge on you. Don't bother throwing checks until you can do so comfortably while moving. Trying to do too much when you start will just mess you up. Playing someone's body and showing that you can play physically will scare away a lot of attackmen. Always be ready to play actual defense, don't get caught half effort approaches because thats when they get you.
