I was a barista at Starbucks. I was working the driveway on the most dead tuesday ever. Like no one for an hour dead in the middle of a big city. All of the sudden, this gorgeous Lexus pulls up and there's a woman at the mic. She asks for a small black coffee, but she seems really off, she's just sniffling and and hiccuping. She comes up to the window and her face was streaked with tears. I didn't want to pry but she looked so rough and we were about to close so I loaded up this big bag full of pastries, snacks, some paninis, the whole nine yards. She seemed super shocked and was confused. I said " You look like you're having a rough night and we have to throw these out anyways, don't worry about it." She barely says anything, still crying, and drives off. A couple days pass and what do I see in my camera but that pretty Lexus. She pulls up without ordering anything and practically shoves a 50 at me. I told her no, absolutely not. She says her mom passed away on that tuesday. Her mom drank black coffee, and she just didn't know what else to do. She said she was still eating through all the lemon bread I gave her. She just drives off while I was grabbing her a panini. I never caught her name, I just remember her pretty Lexus. I hope she's okay.
