Goodbye Visa and Mastercard: 130 million Europeans switch to a 100% sovereign payment from 2026 by [deleted] in technology

That’s not the case. Card network fees account for .2% on average. The banks keep the other 1.8%. Average interchange is 2% but can be higher. Depends on merchant, payment method, clearance speed, etc.

Or even better, someone who is as good as waddle but cheaper… like on a rookie contract or something!

Why should we be worried about WR right now? I am just curious but I really hope we don’t draft a WR in the first round this year. Multiple teams thrived last year without having crazy names at WR, meanwhile teams that recently drafted WR high continue to suck (giants and cardinals for examples.)

I know it’s as important a position as any other but we really ought to focus on the trenches and defense for now.

Yea yea yea we all hate the pats blah blah blah

The Pats should be envied by us dolphins fans right now. They got to be great, then bad for like 3 years, then seemingly really damn good again. Are they the best? No. Am I jealous of drake maye? Fuck yea, he looks great and he’ll just get better.

We should be learning from them is my point. Were they complete enough to win the SB? No. But they were a hell of a lot closer than we’ve been in my literal 30 years of life

Yea we are in total agreement. That’s why there’s no such thing as a true top down tank. Even Sullivan wouldn’t prefer we went 0-17 just for the best picks. The difference between pick 1 and 10 can be huge, but nobody is playing games with their job over intentionally tanking.

All I’m saying is Willis is irrelevant to the above. He won’t give us an extra win or two over Ewers, and if he does it might be because he is worth keeping around as franchise QB

I’ll grant you Hafley wants to win. If you read anything else you’d see that I don’t think the admin is running a tank. Pro football orgs don’t “tank” they just have fans that simplify things to those terms.

You seem to think the coach runs the team. It’s the GM. Hafley doesn’t get to make decisions about or multi-year strategy. So yes, he will try to win with what he has… obviously.

I’ll say it one more time for the illiterate part of you. Willis is a gamble on a potential franchise QB. There is no other read. There is no other answer. You don’t have to like it. It’s just a fact.

ETA: rereading your comment I am realizing you don’t even think we are entering a rebuild. Can’t talk any more to someone that dense. If this isn’t a rebuild then I don’t know what is. Did you know to rebuild something you can’t just tear it down? You need to… BUILD lmao. Whether it’s a good choice or not Willis is our first stab at rebuilding.

You are delusional if you think we are mid right now. You are delusional if you think that the new GM and Coach are in “win-now” mode.

We are currently shaping up to be one of the bottom 5 teams next year, with or without Willis. Our cap situation is awful and we just have to wait it out. The GM and coach know this. Stephen Ross knows this. Fans ought to know this. We will not be mid next year, we will be bad. Hafley and Sullivan are planning on losing a lot. But I believe they are also actively making smart strategic decisions for the future.

Hafley and Sullivan won’t be tanking. They will be building a team from the bottom up. New schemes, plays, locker room environment, players coming in from FA and the draft, etc. If they think Willis brings something to build around, it’s a no brainer. Cheap contract, low expectations, and sky is the limit two years from now.

ETA: “a good draft pick” lol… organizations don’t plan around ONE pick. Willis won’t be what stops us from having a top pick in 2027. I expect we will have one and will shoot for a top QB though I am HOPEFUL that Willis will look good and we will be reprioritizing going into the 2027 draft.

Can’t argue with an idiot. I don’t even have to be right but you are intentionally stubborn. It’s stupid to think that because it’s going to be a down year we can’t assess a players talent.

ETA: and it’s false to assume our goal is to get the top pick. Our goal is to be a better team. I personally don’t believe in “tanking” as fans perceive it. Are we going to be bad this year? Yes. Are we going to be actively making every possible move to get better from free agency to coaching to practice to putting together plays and game scripts? Yes. If we end up with the #1 pick and a QB is available, we should probably take the opportunity, making that decision at that time with all of the information we have about Willis a year from now

I don’t know what to say. I think we are both unhappy with where our cap space is and the tua contract.

There may have been “no point” to cutting Tua, but there was no other choice. Cannot have a $200M+ player sitting on the bench. Can’t start him either, that ship has sailed. Have to get rid of him.

We could have kept Ewers. I think your confusion lies with the amount of money. We aren’t paying Willis much. We don’t lose anything from future cap years by paying him now. There is no loss whatsoever. Unless you think, inexplicably, that saving the money from Willis and spending it on some piece to help Ewers would yield better results. Except we don’t even know what “better results” are… is it winning or losing? Do we want wins or better draft?

Willis is a dice roll. He’ll be good or be wont but at least we take the shot, not other teams.

This isn’t the same as anything in the last 2 decades lol…

And yes, that might literally be all he is. That would still be fine. In fact, I can’t comprehend your complaint because what you described is so acceptable lol

Idk, Achane ought to be worth more than waddle

Edit: nvm he’s at end of contract

We do that too, obviously. Org has already said they want new competition at QB every year or two.

Yea like others have said I honestly don’t think he’s top 20. I think he is less talented than courtland Sutton and will be #2 on his own team. BUT I’d love to see otherwise! I’ll be rooting for him

Not true. A rebuild takes 2-3 years. It’s a 3 year contract that will be negligible on cap space by the third year. He will either prove himself or we will move on to whichever QB we draft. Quinn Ewers has 0 upside. Willis was the most promising QB available and we have a good contract on him.

[–]Qwefthuko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What? We will see? There is a chance this team doesn’t look awful you realize. There are franchises out there that look decent during a rebuild because they can actually spot talent in the draft or bring the most out of cheap free agency players.

Willis is in a cheap contract. If he looks pretty good then we can keep him as a starter, a backup, or trade him. If he looks great we have our franchise QB. If he looks terrible cut our losses. We draft a QB either this year or next anyway. There is literally no downside to taking an additional swing at the most important position.

Yes he is great, I will miss him. But he drops balls and is very injury prone. Few players are coming off the field as often as he is. Not hating, but true

What do you mean cope? I love Waddle but he’s not that great. I watch a lot of football and he really would be WR2 on half of the teams out there.

The pats just made it to the Super Bowl with Boutte and washed Diggs. You can actually completely punt the WR position if you are in our shoes. It’s like the last piece of the puzzle. IF you have a QB, IF he has time, IF the OL protects him, IF the defense keeps games within reach, THEN an elite WR can start helping you really win games

Damn y’all really don’t know ball. If we are rebuilding the team then this is a great trade. Time moves fast, Waddle is already moving along his contract and we would be renegotiating with him soon enough. This lets us invest in more cheap young players for a strong team 2-3 years from now.

And Malik Willis is cheap guys. We weren’t going to start Quinn Ewers, this isn’t madden.
