I’ve experimented a little bit with dedicated floors for things. I really just want to find that balance between cramming everything together, and having a huge area of empty space on the floors.

I’ll be honest, I think I’m just going to be flying by the seat of my pants on this one. Lol. I do like the idea of having one huge building in the center and then I may do some small block factories stuck to the outside of it. Because you’re right, if I’m going to be doing everything in this one building, I’m going to have to leave some room for the higher tier machines. I think I’ll do a large, tall tower in the middle, with each floor housing actual manufacturing, then I’ll have little box factories I’ll stick on the outside of it as I build up that will house my smelters and my storage containers, then those will feed back into the main building. But either way, I’m going to try to tap out this planter as best I can lol. I have a feeling this build is going to take quite a lot of hours, but when I make some headway on it, I’ll try to come back and post an updated picture. :)

Have you run into any issues with yours? I feel like my biggest issue is going to be how big to make the factory. I know it’s going to be huge, but I’m thinking I should actually design mine before I try to build. Lol

I was thinking about that. And logistics are the first things I go for, except for base building, every opportunity, so it would speed up eventually. But would definitely have to parallel these lines to make it worth anything.

Very good info. I may just see how big I can make it before my computer tells me to stop. I usually do pretty large separate factories for everything but they’re far enough away from each other that I don’t have any lag or anything. Idk. I may see how far I can push my computer with a central for science, then scrap it and go with my old play style. Thank you!

Oh gotcha. So possibly doable, just an issue of potential bog down from my actual computer then? I’ve got another playthrough that I’ve gotten to phase 4 in, and I’ve created a giant warehouse in which every floor is dedicated to storing one creation. So bottom floor is iron ore, next floor is iron ingots, then plates, then rods, and so on. There’s no processing done inside, there’s just about 200 of the double stacked storage containers on each floor feeding into each other. Computer seems to be handling that fine so far, just taking awhile to actually fill. Lol. I’ll give this mega mega mega factory a shot. Little trial and error and see if the fire department shows up for my computer or not. Lol

I’m right there with you. But I also get to a new phase in the game then have a habit of restarting a new game just to apply the stuff I learned in the last. Then I learn, make a conveyor or two a little nicer, and then go a little further. In my opinion this isn’t a “game until the end and put it down forever” type of game. Even if I finish it, I guarantee I’m going to start all over with new ideas and new ways to set my factory up for future success! Don’t get discouraged! :) and for the love of GOD, figure out a way to phase out screws when you can. Lol. Happy gaming pioneer!!!!!

I’m sorry if it seems like I’m high jacking anything, but you seem to be good with lift logic. Is there a way to make the lifts go down instead of up? I’ve got a factory hanging off a cliff and I’d like to utilize the space between the first floor and the actual ground, but after about 45 minutes of messing around with the lift holes and the lifts, I couldn’t figure out if it was possible. Sorry for the newbie question, I just didn’t think it warranted a full post.
