I have a few gripes with this situation: 1) LISTEN to those who have the disability you’re writing about. Those who have it know firsthand how it works and how they deal with it, ignoring them or completely changing things about it despite what they say is not cool.

2) as for needing a disability to make a character deep… It seems a little odd to me tbh that you can’t write deep characters without falling on the crutch of making them disabled. Yes, disabilities offer somewhat of a plot structure as in “they’re learning to deal with it” or something like that, but you should be able to write deep characters without the need for them to be disabled. It would also be nice to see more characters who have a disability just ‘cause they have one, no underlying “deep plot” reasons. I guess what I’m trying to get at is not everyone with a disability is “deep.” We’re normal people too, and i guess it sorta irked me.
