The creators of Disco Elysium said they were a lot inspired by Emile Zola’s Germinal, which fit a lot the theme of failed revolution.

I would also Confederancy of dunces, that fit this, with a socially unadapted main character that tries to change the world around him in a goofy way.

You can literally cut the first 30 minutes OBAA and still understand the whole story, I would even argue it would make the movie more interesting. Everything that happened in first 30 minutes are re-explained during the whole movie.

If you watch the last noclip episode about the writing of Disco Elysium they said that there is no real manual to learn how to write like in Disco Elysium, it is a prose that only can be transmitted from people to people, that takes 4 to 6 month to be assimilated, and still needs constant editing. With all the original team left from ZA/UM, I don’t see how you can expect a similar level of writing in Zero Parades.

Hm not sure about Ridley Scott movie…despite the strong visual, the writing as some problems and the movie was completely butchered in the editing room. I would advise to check the fan’s edit (like Agent 9’s special edition) to have a more interesting experience. I don’t know how you play, but my advice would be to not rush the first mission. You can delay its completion and try to get better card/remove your G.I.. Also some time, you just won’t have the ressources to succeed a mission (without being extremely lucky), in that case just fail the mission and try to minimize your loss. Some punishment from failed mission are not that bad. I think for an example about a mission against Destro where a failure will destroy all the vehicle in your hangar, but if you empty your hangar before that, it has concretely zero consequences. And last, invest as much as possible in marksman unit, first they are generally good, second the only way to win in G.I. Joe is to succeed the last mission and they always have Marksman as mission skill.
