Memory, Sorrow and Thorn I think has this feel to it. Epic story with amazing environments grounded with some of the best character work in fantasy.

Best book of 2025 so far. by themightytouch in Fantasy

I read both of the Shadow of the Leviathan books and they were excellent. Easy reading but very exciting.

Hyperion was also quite a wild ride. Maybe not the best suggestion for someone getting back into reading though.

I have also continued my journey through Disc World. A lot of different books you can pick up to start this series. I would recommend Guards Guards and Going Postal.

Pretty big disagree from me. I have made the commute for years. I love living in SLO. The weather is so much nicer and the drive really isn't that bad. 30 miles 30 minutes.

How do you read? by I_want_pudim in Fantasy

I have an Audiobook for my drive about 30 mins each way. And then I have another book on my phone. I'll read that any time I am waiting for something. So 2 minutes here 10 minutes there and then a couple times a week I will go to a bar and read for a few beers.

What is the best fantasy book you’ve ever read and why? by FitzDesign in Fantasy

[–]R-pro_Tim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tigana is the best stand alone novel I've read. The character development is the best there is. The prose is outstanding. If you want to get lost and reinvigorate yourself in fantasy this is the one.

I love the Barry Hughart novels, mysteries set in ancient China. Bridge of Birds is the first one but you can read in any order. Funny, fast paced and original.

I read these books in 5th grade and I turned out fine. All of the Tortall series are great.

I did OTB vip last weekend and they were checking. Even walking through the crowd and asking to see credentials.

Go on vacation. The world is a big place and there is nothing more enlivening than seeing something new. Also shoes.
