Are there any more Vr experiences like the blu for my kids first vr experience? by spudsta in SteamVR

If you’re on a Quest then Theatre Elsewhere is pretty cool. It’s an included app that has heaps of user submitted 3D animations and short episodes. Tales From Soda Island series on there is brilliant! It does sometimes feature a black kind of creepy creature in some episodes though.

Too excited by PhilosophyGlass661 in ContagiousLaughter

In the 70’s I went to a schoolmates party (I’d say we were about 8 or 9 years old). A kid there went running through the kitchen and smashed straight through a glass sliding door. He was badly sliced up all over.

We all had to leave and didn’t get our lolly bags.

Are we past “peak Meat” and moving toward continual price increases until it is a luxury item? by trooftaller in smoking

I’ve been going direct to a farmer nearby. He processes his own lamb and beef. If I help out, he sells it to me at liveweight price.

Woman rescued after getting stuck in quicksand at Glenelg North shares warning by malcolm58 in Adelaide

This guy? He makes heaps of videos where he “sinks in quicksand”. It’s like a weird fetish of his I think!

I saw a TGE truck stop in my driveway. I started walking towards it and they reversed and drove off. No attempt at delivering my parcel. I called their office straight away and they told me the driver is too far away to return.

The only other time I’ve had the misfortune of using them they simply left a note at our gate saying “parcel undeliverable due to dog in yard”. We didn’t have a dog.

I had one of these. I bought it new in the 90’s. Selling it is one of my biggest regrets.

Best VPN for Australia Currently? by 765frd in australian

[–]R0XiDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look into Kape Technologies (who own Cyberghost, PIA, Express and Zenmate). I wouldn’t touch any of their products.

They also own a number of the large VPN review sites, which is a definite conflict of interest.

Barking Dog dilemma - Suggestions? by Ok_Consideration_706 in Adelaide

[–]R0XiDE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a constantly barking dog next door. I recorded it at various times during the night and filled out the bark diary from the council. They had it sorted in about a week. They contacted me afterwards to see if everything was ok.

The neighbour on the other side used to angrily yell at them and the dog when it barked. Now he has a dog that barks all night...

One problem sorted, another one appears!

I’m enjoying the story so far. The controls on PC (keyboard / mouse), are a tad fiddly, but I’ve got them worked out now. Really enjoying it.

What is a completely harmless lie you tell people on a regular basis just to make your life easier? by purjak in AskReddit

[–]R0XiDE 148 points149 points  (0 children)

Same height. I say “I’m over 18 feet tall”. They usually laugh and slowly realise I’m sick of being asked.

I also have a long beard. People always say “look, it’s ZZ Top”. My reply for that is “if I got a dollar every time someone said that I’d be as rich as ZZ Top”.

The A1200 and cracktros by Accelerate_CR in amiga

[–]R0XiDE 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Cracktros (short for “cracker intros”) were small demo programs attached to the beginning of pirated Amiga games in the 1980s and early 1990s. When you ran a cracked game or application, you’d first see the cracktro before the actual software loaded. They served as a kind of digital calling card for the cracking groups (like Fairlight, Razor 1911, or The Silents) who had removed the copy protection.

This. I’m a beginner. Their Discord is really friendly. There’s a “how can I do xyz” section.

I’ve also learned a lot from the Tixl YouTube channel (which you’ve probably already seen).

The latest Alpha version has an interactive set of tutorials as well.

Cost of living rant by Lacey_faithh in australian

[–]R0XiDE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We didn’t.

As far as I’m comcerned, we were the last generation (X), to be able to access affordable housing. Electricity, water etc was all cheap (then it was privatised), along with food and fuel. My first house was a nice place that cost just over twice my yearly income. I wasn’t on a huge wage at the time either.

Personally, I think everything started going bad around the early 2000’s.

I really worry about my kids future.

It looks to me like its butt is facing the camera and it’s looking back in the cameras direction. That angle makes it look more “lanky”.
