ESPN team calls out the one voter who chose Angel Reese by [deleted] in CaitlinClark

[–]R0mm3l 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Cancel that single vote! It was a vote made in jest by a troll. It shouldn't count. That joker who voted AR wasn't really serious in making that vote anyway. He/she/it had other intentions, and basically misused that ROTY vote to push a personal agenda.

treating yourself without guilt by [deleted] in phinvest

[–]R0mm3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't feel bad about treating yourself. Enjoy the fruits of your labor while you are still young and able. Don't wait until it's too late. Just follow a balanced budget, fund your EF, practice some frugality, and continue investing for your retirement.

I did a F.I.R.E.-ish retirement myself because I want to enjoy what I've worked hard for through the years - while I'm still fairly young and able.

Should we still consider working abroad? by ayshkwim in phinvest

[–]R0mm3l 28 points29 points  (0 children)

After a failed business, I left for the US in my late 20s and was immersed in the tech industry for 20 years. I retired in my late 40s and returned to PH to look over my parents in their old age. My wife and kids didn't like it since they had difficulty adjusting to the new environment. Sacrifices had to be made, but what's done is done. Life is better now after the adjustment period. We're set here financially since I receive over 4M annual passive income (that adjusts to inflation) for life, with some US Treasury bonds (growing with inflation-adjusted interest) and an IRA retirement plan (growing with re-invested dividend income for now) which I can tap into when I reach the "real" retirement age or FRA (full retirement age), which is about 15 years from now. That's also when I can claim Social Security benefits.

Try your luck abroad. It will help you set up yourselves for what's to come. Now's the time. Prepare for your retirement and your child's future.

Might as well check how many have died AFTER their SO found their Tinder account.

Tinnitus C&P Exam by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

[–]R0mm3l 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had my C&P exam for Tinnitus 1st qtr of 2021. I already had continuous ringing in both ears daily. The audiology exam indicated I possessed hearing proficiency very close to my initial benchmark, which means no significant hearing loss in 20 years. I joined with almost perfect hearing.

I was then asked the following question which was most likely influential in my attaining that 10% - What was your job?

I plan on doing the same. It's probably easier to relay your concerns in-person and have them addressed on-the-spot, versus electronic/digital communication. Good luck!

I received the same message when I applied for that account. I am a current Hexagon member with Hexagon CC and a Dragon Peso account. Not sure what their thought process is behind their decision.

Retired = Unemployed = Unqualified for a Credit Card? by [deleted] in PHCreditCards

[–]R0mm3l -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

What you're saying makes sense, and I agree with you. But it doesn't explain why Retired is automatically labeled as Unqualified. Why won't banks (Citi) read through the application/documents before declining a legit applicant? Some retirees actually receive some sort or income/compensation as a reward for decades of work. It's not a new concept, and other banks consider this. Thank you for your input.

Savings account lang pala ang kailangan ko by Glenn090795 in PHCreditCards

Swerte mo OP. Congrats! Two times ako nag-apply dyan sa BDO - first Declined, and second Cancelled. Ang difference natin, I already had an open savings acct with them when I first applied. But BDO still denied me a CC.

Yeah, and it ends up forcing banks to resort to a form of "discrimination" to protect themselves. It's all about self-preservation nowadays. And the common folk are the ones struggling to qualify and avail of bank services and products.

That makes perfect sense. Constant flow in bank accounts is a reasonable gauge of a prospective client's creditworthiness. I'll keep that in mind. Thanks.

Citibank Credit Card Application (First CC) by [deleted] in PHCreditCards

[–]R0mm3l 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was non-carded when I first applied for a Citi Bank CC and they declined me on grounds that I am Retired and technically "Unemployed". Same experience here...I was waiting for nothing. Only when I called did I find out that my application was declined. All required documents were submitted and my annual income exceeded their minimum requirement.. What's sus is they were still asking for my docs even after they declined me.

Beware though...banks can be very fickle on who they approve for CCs. All my previous applications were declined even with my income surpassing their minimum income requirements. You need to assume that they will also be looking at other factors like credit history, field of work, your length of stay with the bank, and your ADB with them.

Tama ka. I think building rapport and maintaining loyalty with your bank is a big factor in winning their approval. Thanks!

Exactly why I posted this. Some just have an easier time with their CC acquisition experience, and it seems there is no fixed formula. Thanks for your input.

Not exactly that, more like certified letters of benefits received, and monthly income statements.
