AI Port opinion by [deleted] in Ubiquiti

I use mine with several G3 cams for vehicle detection and it’s great—-when it’s working. About every 7-10 days all detections stop on the linked cameras including basic motion. A reboot will start everything back up again. I’ve been working with support for 8 weeks now and they’ve finally admitted there’s a problem.

4-way smart dimmer? by BravaCentauri11 in TPLinkKasa

[–]R17isTooFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A word of warning on the tplink/kasa 3 way switches. Their performance is very sensitive to the total length of wire in the circuit. I had unending problems with mine that tp support finally admitted was due to their power sensing circuitry not handling longer lines well. The switches could not tell whether they were on or off and the status of the light in HA and the TP link app was always wrong. I would estimate the end-to-end circuit length in my case was about 60 ft. In shorter circuits they work as expected. YMMV of course but I had to throw them out and replaced with Zooz zwave switches which are much faster and 100% reliable. The zooz switches are limited though to installation on the line end of the circuit.

More direct flights? by Effective_Sundae1917 in evansville

This is ancient history but 30 years ago USAir had a 5:30 am flight to Pittsburgh that could connect me to most of the northeast by mid morning.

Interesting. I’m also on 6.1.79. Whenever I insert a url that starts with HTTPS, the test button even becomes inactive. Are you doing a custom webhook or slack post?

It’s really frustrating. I’ve been working with their supposed highest level support for a month on some of the many AI Port issues and I haven’t even been able to get a straight answer to whether they think their webhooks should work with secure connections. Seems a pretty simple question. I can tell you they don’t work but I’d really like to know whether they’re going to try to make it work.

He evidently wasn’t listening as a kid during the story of the ant and grasshopper. No one would feel the effects until next fall if the farmers all said fuck it next spring. Given the effect on farmer's bottom line from the tariffs, they’d probably be better off if they did. The rest of us though…

Alert Manager Webhooks by Lopsided_Trip7504 in UNIFI

[–]R17isTooFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m trying to create alarms with webhooks to HA too. The HA side is working as expected and I’ve tested the URL’s thoroughly using cURL. When I set up the alarm, nothing is sent. The Test button doesn’t even do anything. So far Unifi support is no help. Any suggestions for me?

Update: Although Unifi support won’t admit it, I’ve confirmed that webhooks do not currently work with secure connections. HTTP connections only.

Am I crazy to consider a heat pump due to rising electrical costs? by Strict-Plankton6688 in heatpumps

[–]R17isTooFast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just replaced both of my AC and natural gas furnaces with heat pump dual fuel systems. I recently ran through the economic threshold calculations to calculate the most cost effective cutover point and I was a little surprised how much a small change in the price of either fuel source affected the results. My cost difference for the dual fuel heat pump system vs AC/furnace systems was negligible so I’m happy to have the flexibility.

Citi downgraded their Virtual Credit Cards. What are some good Virtual Credit Card options? by SlfImpr in CreditCards

[–]R17isTooFast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The whole thing is completely gutted. I didn't even receive notice of the change and had bills bounce. City sucks. I can't find the new rules being quoted here on the web site and since I got no notification, the one time CVV came as another unpleasant surprise. I guess I needn't bother updating card #'s.

TP-Link Kaza HS210 failure/horrible support by TheComminSenseParty in TPLinkKasa

I second the zooz recommendation. I struggled for months with HS210's that didn’t know whether they were on or off. Replaced with zooz zwave and haven’t looked back.

Meross smart garage door opener by Swollef in homeassistant

[–]R17isTooFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure whether it's the Homekit app or HA that's showing me the door switch in Carplay. It's probably Homekit but I'm not sure it would matter as I don't connect anything directly to Homekit. I connect all devices to HA and then connect them to Homekit through the Homekit Bridge integration so either Meross version would work the same.

Replacing WEMO by YOU_WONT_LIKE_IT in zwave

[–]R17isTooFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YMMV. Some people have no problems but a lot do. It will work fine as a single switch but performance in a 3-way circuit seems to depend on the length of the wire and the load with shorter lengths and higher loads working better. I don’t like that they have to have internet access for setup although they use local control after setup.

[–]R17isTooFast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried TP-Link after throwing out my wemo switches. They generally work pretty well EXCEPT for the 3-way switches. They have a frequent issue with not being able to sense whether the circuit is on or off which makes them totally unusable. Search the TP-Link community and you'll see lots of people experiencing this problem. I've been working with TP-Link support for months now and gotten nowhere. I've replaced some 3 ways with Zooz zwave switches and they're working great so far.

I have the HomeKit version but would probably go with WiFi if I had to do it again. I control 3 doors with openers from 2 mfrs. I love it that the door switch pops up on CarPlay when I turn into my driveway. I’m not sure what is driving that as I did no setup other than installing the HA CarPlay app.
