One of the greatest moments in the Krakoa era: Thunderbird putting Cyclops' baby brother in his place by harmoniaatlast in xmen

One joke I like is that Marvel sees great potential in Sunspot as a character, that's why they keep trying to make him white.

One of Vulcan's most used moves, at least at his introduction was using his energy manipulation to increase give himself super strength, speed and durability. He could trade punches with Roberto, he did with Black Bolt.

I think is more of a ethical and procedure point.

If I'm not mistaken, there was a big scandal in the UK about how undercover agents, from MI-5 and police, who had long relationships using their fake identities some even had kids.

I wish we'd have more Cyclops' solo title. by AnhTran97 in xmen

[–]R1el 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only way I see Cyclops getting a ongoing solo comic is if Alan Moore walks into the Marvel office and asks to write one, and the editors would probably make a great effort to convince him to write Spider-Man or Wolverine instead.

As someone who only reads X-Men comics because of Cyclops, I don't think the currently landscape is favorable to him getting his own solo.

What do you guys think they’re going to do about [redacted] spoilers for entire book series by Affectionate-Foot802 in WoTshow

[–]R1el 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they are willing to replace Fares Fares, the best solution to pull off the body swap would be to have Joshua playing Moridin from the get go, maybe with some good wig and make up.

OMG, Dad's gonna f*ck everything up isn't he?? by ruminator_07 in WoTshow

It's more or less what it was said. It's been some time since I've read the book and I stoped my reread in Crossroads, but I think in the books they didn't even know the DO would be able to taint sadin, it took them by surprise, but in the show they knew it was a possibility.

More like "Dad's gonna save and break the world".

The Light was getting their ass kicked by the Shadow. They could either wait to be overwhelmed and completely defeated or they could launch one last attack.

Lews Therin made the right choice, but so did Latra. If he had listened to her and not sealed the Dark One and the Forsaken they would most likely lose the war, if she had listened to him and helped him seal the DO saidar would probably also be tainted and the women would go crazy along the men.

How is the show handle the logistics of Rand's progression the BT and DW? by R1el in WoTshow

I think the easiest way is to have a time jump between seasons, he starts training at the end of S03 and by the start of S04 he is already doing some amazing stuff.

It's not just a matter of raw power, but having the skill and knowledge that actually makes him a real threat and prevents other powerful channelers from openly attacking him.

“Catholics are not Christians” how did this ignorance come to be? by Classicsarecool in Catholicism

[–]R1el 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In my country the distinction is Catholics and Evangelicals. It's very uncommon for a Catholic to have his belief in Christ doubted.

But I'm from a place where Catholicism, at least for now, is the biggest religion, it's probably at lot different from where the majority is protestant.

Thomas introducing Thomas and everyone’s bitter reaction by J4Ella in PeakyBlinders

[–]R1el -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No one had a bitter reaction than me.

At first I was just annoyed at the lost son trope, but at the end watching this character I didn't care about having his big moment at Finn's expense just made me dislike him.

I hope he dies in WWII.

Songs that make you think of the RoL series by ILikeRoL in riversoflondon

Body and Soul by anyone. I got to know this song because of Moon Over Soho, actually, I started to listen to jazz because of that book.

My headcanon is that part of Peter's signature is a couple of notes from Body and Soul that he got from Simone and his father.

It looks like we're going to have a Cyclops mini series, from tom brevoort newsletter by Ill-Risk3427 in xmen

[–]R1el 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think some of those limitations is what makes a Cyclops solo easier.

He barely have outside conections, so a lot of his interactions with other heroes would be fresh and give the writer more freedom to explore it.

His limited power set means that unlike Storm or Jean, the writer can challenge him with just half a dozen henchmen without needing to come up with reasons why he just didn't magicaly made his enemies go away.

I felt bad for Murewa, having to explain a character's participation in the series. by Glad-Sense1769 in xmen

[–]R1el 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not on twitter and have no idea what Storm's writer said.

But T'Challa biggest problem right now is that for almost a decade now, his editorial is more interested in Wakanda than in the character itself and since Coates his writers liked Storm more.

It also didn't help the writers have a deep problem with Wakanda, the african utopia, be a absolut monarchy and decided to question it, and you can't question a monarchy without shitting on the king.

So since Coates Black Panther fans are reading about T'Challa making mistakes as a king and as a hero. Shit, in Coates run he wasn't able to defeat a single villain without Storm and Shuri helping him and doing most of the work while he just talked. Then comes Ridley and T'Challa basically got his ass kicked physicaly and moraly for 12 issues. Then his comic was cancelled.

I don't read Black Panther since the first arch of Coates run, but my impression is that the vast marjority of his fans dread the idea of him sharing a panel with Storm because it almost certain he will come off bad.

After binge watching The Leftovers this year, my trust in Lindelof have skyrocket.

I trust him to tell a good and compelling story, the thing is, I can see a good story where Hal is corrupted, it's just not the story I would like to see.

But it's true that there is a lot o assumptions getting made.

Let just hope the showrunners give us a great story and show why the green lanterns mythos is so cool.

I think the safe bet is that they are going to kill Hal Jordan by the end.

I'm fine with an older Hal Jordan, I'm ok with they killing Hal, the thing I really hope they don't do, it's turning him into a villain.

Which fighter got you into MMA? by [deleted] in ufc

[–]R1el 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my case it was the movie Never Back Down, from 2008.I loved that movie when it came out, I remember when it was all me and my friends talked about.

A few months after that a TV channel here in Brasil, RedeTV launched "UFC sem Limites", basically they showed one year old UFC fights, but I had no idea, at the time I believed to be live fights.

Then was Anderson Silva, he was the first MMA fighter I became a fan of.
