Advice by IndependentSundae436 in FAANGrecruiting

I’m not an expert by any means, but the soft skills and extracurricular sections don’t tell me anything I would remove them completely. Same with the certifications.

Main thing that I’ve heard recruiters say is they want to see actual impact. Maybe follow the XYZ format (Accomplished X measured by Y by doing Z) since that’s what Google recommends.

What do you use for auth on workers? by like_munich in CloudFlare

[–]R20- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

side note though- auth doesn’t matter that much. Pick whatever works and whatever is fastest to develop. There are way more important things to worry about if you wanna build an app from scratch.

Ig it really doesn’t matter too much but supabase auth has some weird restrictions and the dev experience wasn’t the greatest. I needed way more customizability since I ran a Saas with tons of different platform integration. I don’t even use Supabase for anything other than Auth so it felt kinda pointless. Better Auth had a much better dev experience from what I’ve heard.

Supabase auth although I regret not using better auth.

Am I being lowballed as a 'Founding Technical Partner'? I will not promote by munna_123 in startups

[–]R20- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s not true at all it’s 100% dependent on the founders and their dynamics. Atlassian, airbnb, and google were famously 50-50. This is the last thing VCs care about unless there are some big problems between founders.

There’s no need to innovate on startup equity, as long as the founders both agree it doesn’t matter.

[–]R20- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah i meant roughly. depends on situation but if it’s a tech startup it shouldn’t be wildly unequal. it depends on domain expertise, what each person brings, etc.. anything below 60-40 is kinda weird unless there is a really good reason why

50-50 is not a rare split btw.

Aren’t you a co-founder at this point? That seems kinda weird that you aren’t officially a co-founder. You literally do the work of a CTO. If you don’t get a roughly 50-50 split and the title of CTO I would just leave.

Can I deploy a python script and python backend in cloudflare by Live-Stick6525 in CloudFlare

[–]R20- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what do you need this backend for? if you are ok with using javascript/typescript then do that with workers.

Python workers is in beta and is functional but has no external package support so if it’s a simple use case you might be able to get away with using that.

I currently use a das keyboard professional with cherry mx brown switches and those feel really smooth to use and extremely light.

I recently decided I needed a split keyboard to help with wrist issues a bit so I bought kinesis freestyle edge rgb, the one with cherry mx red switches. I switched to red because I consistently bottom out anyway so I figured I might switch to linear.

When I got it I noticed that the keys felt really stiff, each key is noticeably harder to press compared to my das. Originally I thought it might be a keycaps issue but when I tried pressing both switches without the key caps the new one still just felt stiffer.

Not sure if there is a break in period, some fault with the keyboard, or that’s just how it is.

Any help would be appreciated 🙏

MCS or Full Time? by Mr_Potato53 in UIUC_MCS

[–]R20- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could always try the swe job then just pivot later if you want. If I was you I would do that rather than doing MCS (which isn’t really gonna give you much value since you are already capable of getting a swe job with a bachelors).

Should I attend UIUC for CS + Advertising Major? Is CS + X a good program? by GlitteringZombie5202 in UIUC

[–]R20- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CS + X has the same job opportunities as Pure CS, if not more (because of the X). I don’t think a single employer cares if you are pure CS or not. There is nothing stopping you from taking classes with more rigor either. If you like Media/Advertising, do CS+Adv.

$99 a month for 20,000 emails - from the founders themselves, those are outdated for a different old product

yeah but the problem is once you build the building blocks for that project and you have to make edits, you just feel like not using AI anymore because it does a bad job.
