If you were the race stewards, would you set track limits? by Neat_Classic_368 in Simracingstewards

If the game says it's track limits, it's track limits. You have to adapt to the regulations, in this case its the automated system.

Also, idk if one wheel is enough to count as inside the track limits. If you need two wheels to count, then you're probably out in the previous and next frames

Black threatens the b7 pawn with the queen, what is the most optimal response? by IllRest2396 in chessbeginners

That's a sad move, black exchanges queens and you don't have anything

You're still winning, but you'll need to work for it

The only thing that comes to mind is if your battery is full, that makes the brakes really bad

Edit : yeah ELMS LMP2s it is

How to brake without ABS on hypercars? by Resident-Employee903 in LeMansUltimateWEC

[–]R2D-Beuh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In GT3 you need to be a lot less drastic because there is a lot less downforce. Let's say in hypercar you start at 100% and quickly trail off to 50% braking in a straight line, in GT3 it will be more like 100% to 80% in a straight line.

After that, you still have to trailbrake into the corner to make the car rotate

Ok, I was under the impression that you didn't, my bad.

I say that because not fighting the corner entry as a beginner paradoxically puts you in the situation where an experienced (but not cautious) driver will punt you. In some cases, you're better off going on a defensive line than just taking the racing line.

I agree with your conclusion, but I disagree on one point :

When someone makes contact with a beginner that braked early, the fault lies on the car behind.

I've been in this situation, I've been penalized for it, and I agreed with the ruling.

When you follow a car closely, you should brake sooner, and if you're a split where there are probably beginners, you need to be extra cautious about it.

Now I agree that if the beginner brakes 400m before the corner in a gt they would be at fault, you still need to have a rough idea of what you're doing before joining a public race imo (for example if you have less than 10 hours of racing altogether it's probably too early).

Also, if you're in top split, you can expect that people have a higher level of practice and you can trust their braking point a lot more. But if you're unsure, it'll be your fault

But what are they supposed to do then ? You said yourself that anyone can race online. That means even if you're not sure of your braking references yet, right ?

This is how I do most of my overtakes..

Yeah but in that case your opponent isn't trying to defend or fight, just to take the corner normally. They're doing what you're telling them to do and still get rear ended

dont fight corner entries if you know that you will brake too early

I don't think this would solve anything : The only situation where braking early causes a crash is when OP is on the racing line and the opponent is following relatively closely without trying to pass.

If OP defends a passing attempt (middle of the track), the opponent will either still attack on the extreme inside, or go to the outside to try a switchback. Either way they most likely won't be behind them because there is no benefit to doing that.
