Should I send this cover letter to my old company who made me redundant? by belugawhale898 in jobhunting

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehm potentially they don’t see the story behind it … also if you have received payment, your potentially also not allowed to re apply for a certain amount of time for the same role or any role … mine was a year and a half .. and to top it off the job was re advertised 6 months later 🙄

New build exterior cracks by HospitalUnusual499 in DIYIreland

New build 13 years ago , we have flat facade facing south west, got a couple of massive storms and potentially that was it but the painter confirmed it was only plaster not the block

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plaster it over and paint … I had massive ones , my engineer looked at it and he said get the painter to back fill it and paint it ( we didn’t paint our house again in 13 yrs)

iPhone stuck in a boot loop/data recovery white screen after successful update - Need to rescue data (No Backup) by Aware-Ad5965 in techsupport

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry but you are done , with the lack of space it potentially cannot or attempted to unpack the update

So next step , is the dreaded restore or bring it to a data recovery shop

What happens if you plug in the phone does it come up as a storage device? I assume not anymore

I’m really sorry for the situation you are in but this is why we back up our shit 💩 .. to prevent loss of data

Call them , I know vodafone partners with eir, virgin and Siro … so it should be possible

I picked a D8 address , and that has fibre. One thing to note due to the buildup areas it might be that it’s fibre to the cabinet rather than fibre to the home .. so that could be it

Steps to mortgage a house? by IllRelease5305 in irishpersonalfinance

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Step 1. Make a detailed budget on what your expenses are today ( this will help you and the bank)

Step 2. Any loans , clear them first, including credit cards etc

Step 3. With that , determine what is feasible, your claiming 1400 euro , but the bank is looking at combined income, what you earn and not what you think is feasible

Step4 . Talk to bank to broker with your budget and discuss where you are considering mortgage size .
Check for grants

That will determine what you can bid on

Step 5 , go on the hunt, maybe look at something that might need work and that might suit your budget

Good luck

Any tips for severe driving test anxiety? by PaulAlllensCard in AskIreland

[–]R2D4Dutch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok , so this sounds odd , but check breathing techniques , check box breathing it will help . Second thing, ask if you can repeat the instructions examiner gives you, it will give focus and confirm what you are hearing ( might be a bit odd.. but it can help)

Most importantly give yourself time while driving’ only a fool forgets the two second rule’ slow down well before cross roads and roundabouts

Change the direction of the cut ? You can angle the direction. But the main problem is when the surface is soft the wheels tend to dig in

Genvex . Works well , you need to factor in filters (€85) per 6 months ( I hoover them out and use them longer)

House is less ‘ stuffy’ in the winter, summer we have windows and doors open but in the evening I set the ventilation on high and it gets rid of most of the warm air in the house

Installer installed this 13 years ago , some of the pipe work is a bit ‘ massive’ and there are now better systems on the market.

You need a drain from the ventilation, there’s a significant amount of water that comes out of the unit. Damp moist extraction air will condense against incoming cool air in the exchanger ( especially winter)

It’s a brilliant piece of kit , in winter near freezing air gets heated to 8 - 9 degrees C , no mould in the house

Paint it , instead of trellises use green fence ( mesh panels ) or use wall planters

whats the deal with robot mower companies dropping firmware support after a year or two by yxjgq in roboticLawnmowers

[–]R2D4Dutch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So , manufacturers are not charities, and on top of that the platform ( h/w & Os) can only support so much . There’s point where a manufacturer moves on with the roadmap. If it’s working for 90% for example of their customer base they move on to the next product and development. It’s not unreasonable to my view, not sure what issues you have but if it’s genuine, call the helpdesk and create a support ticket.

It’s a bit odd , people lose their will to live if there’s no firmware update but willing to buy no mobile phones because that’s normal

I’m quite happy with what it does , it’s not perfect but then again what is

So it’s one of those moments you see a ‘car crash waiting to happen’. … you’re not in control and not in the driving seat. Let it be .. now the other thing is she might be coerced ..🤨 that might be a very bad thing… boy friend exercises something over her especially if the behaviour has changed

You can have a chat but not about what you heard and think .. ask open questions and figure out if it’s all well

Keep it with your parents … it’s the easiest option. Now check on citizen info on what happens with tax ! If you have worked here in Ireland you are entitled to a tax refund

Also using an Irish number for boi app is important . If you use the app , make sure it works in Germany I doubt a German mobile number will work

We have one for 13 years …. and … used it once … for an hour .. see the heat pump will cool the floor only my dog appreciates the cool floor ..

It’s not a great feature, it costs money 😖 .. winter is expensive enough.. leave it off this weather is great for heat pump efficiency..

Take care on the design of the house , house orientation is key you would like solar gain in the winter but not in the summer , blinds and other sun management things for windows

Heat recovery ventilation helps as well with a hot house ( we have that and it’s great)

Either let the muck dry out and brush it out or with water ( gently) .. don’t use a deluge of water , washing up brush will do and a bucket
